First, I'm not as informed on these particular matters as I know a lot of you have studied it and are very familiar.
But, having gone through a really serious disaster, Hurricane Andrew in 1992, isn't it possible that there are some events that could require martial law in order to protect American citizens?
I'm not exaggerating when I say that after Hurricane Andrew people were starting to worry that there could be shootings over water. In the nick of time (the following day) the National Guard arrived and I cannot tell you how much that saved the day for us. We were on the brink of another disaster and we needed martial law, which I guess we had because we had early curfues which were enforced to the letter. No one could be out after dark and who would want to because there was no light anywhere. We couldn't see our hands before our faces and we couldn't even recognize our own streets when driving down the road....you didn't know where your street was even during the daylight.
So, I'm mentioning this because it is possible that during and after a large disaster that martial law is what can save your life.
Are we sure this isn't why he signed this because of terrorist attacks and things of that nature? Maybe it isn't for subversive (right word?) reasons, but to be prepared for very extreme emergencies.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Your answer lies right here.....
That's what the STATES NATIONAL GUARD are for........NOT martial law.I'm not exaggerating when I say that after Hurricane Andrew people were starting to worry that there could be shootings over water. In the nick of time (the following day) the National Guard arrived and I cannot tell you how much that saved the day for us. We were on the brink of another disaster and we needed martial law
That is presicely why our founding fathers gave the states this responsibility and not the Fed govt. POSSE COMITATUS
The power's that be are looking for a reason to call "marital law."
This was something that has been documented in the communist manifesto papers for decades.
?? Anyone want these ILLEGALS turned citizens wearing a US uniform, packing automatic weapons protecting us? Not me. I wouldn't trust these people for all the money & gold. Look at what's coming over the border and realize that many of these people are now in the military.

10-30-2006, 12:39 PM #14I agree. The local guard is supposed to assist in matters of the state. I cant think of one reason why Marshall Law should ever be declared over the entire Untied States by the President. That would make us a Dictatorship and not the Constitutional Republic that we are supposed to be.

Okay, but I remember very well that it was around Day three or four when the National Guard showed up...as I said just in the nick of time. I remember that the head of the Emergency Management said, "Where's the Cavalry when you need them?" She was referring to the Feds and President Bush I.
Finally everybody showed up. Why didn't the state have the National Guard out there immediately? Why did we have to wait for the Feds?
President Bush I arrived like the day after the National Guard was there.
I just don't understand....if it was the Florida National Guard that we needed.....what would have caused the delay? Why did she call for the Feds?
BTW, she got fired within a very short time after things calmed down. It was believed that it was her comment that got her fired. I was doing a google search to see if I could find any news about that situation.
We were in very dire need for water and security. Why was she calling for the Feds if what we needed was right in our state??Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

10-30-2006, 02:01 PM #17That is probably why she got fired. Emergency respose should start at the lowest level. Why was she calling for the Feds if what we needed was right in our state??
I agree with JP about no reason Martial Law would ever be declared across the entire country. Martial Law shouldn't even be considered unless the local governments, law enforcement and judicial systems were totally broken down.

This is only a thought...my thoughtOkay, but I remember very well that it was around Day three or four when the National Guard showed up...as I said just in the nick of time. Was this "close call" done on purpose? To push the "need for martial law in the future?" I smell a rat.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

10-30-2006, 02:21 PM #19You might be thinking of a State of Emrgency where the feds are allowed by he state to come in and assist.

I found the information to show that the help came from the Feds not the state...at least in the beginning.
Aftermath
The slow response of federal aid to storm victims in southern Florida led Dade County emergency management director Kate Hale to famously exclaim at a nationally televised news conference, "Where in the hell is the cavalry on this one? They keep saying we're going to get supplies. For God's sake, where are they?" Almost immediately, President George H. W. Bush promised, "Help is on the way," and mobile kitchens and tents began pouring in. [13]
