    Disrespecting our flag

There is a small car dealership which I pass every day to and from work. It has two
American flags on small poles displayed in the front.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the flags were both lying on the ground. It was early
morning and I assumed it was probably vandals and the owner would fix it as soon as
he got to work and noticed it.

Much to my disappointment on my return home that evening they
were both still lying on the ground. It caught my attention and every time I pass I notice
the flags. Wednesday morning to my surprise, one of the flags was hanging upside down!
Yesterday, I took down the name of the place and sent the gentleman an email asking him
to please put the flag right and added a copy of proper flag etiquette. He replied that he
was choosing to ignore me as he was "not the wind that blew them off". I asked him if
he is the wind that hung one upside down to which I have not received a reply. (see
    correspondence below)

As of this morning, the flag is still upside down (see attached photos). Is there a gentle way
short of getting arrested, to remind this man of how important our flag
is and how important it is to have it displayed properly?

What is the problem with the American flags in front of your business?

Everytime I've passed by your office this week the flags are either on the ground or
hanging upside down. As a veteran who has made sacrifices for his country I find this lack of
respect for a symbol of those sacrifices made by me and many others offensive. This
lack of attention to detail reflects on you and your business and I will never buy from
someone who cannot pay attention to something as simple as proper respect for our
national flag and will even go to great lengths to ensure that my friends and aquaintences
    do not shop there either.

    Thank you,

Are you the wind who hung it back upside down? Not once but at least twice this week!!

If the wind keeps blowing them off please secure so that they can't come loose. A piece of wire,
a couple of screws or some duct tape should do the trick.

Why isn't the local cities informing the people on proper flag care?

This is such a sad time in our history.

They don't care about our Constitution or our flag. We must care and show our care and concern. All Americans must raise the flag as proud and straight as posible in clear site in our homes and businesses in defiance of the Communists in Washington.

You should walk by and set them on fire next time! Its the only proper way to dispose of a flag that has been on the ground.

First, I'd like to commend the guy for flying JUST the American flag in
front of his business. Too many times I see, especially car dealerships,
flying flags from other countries in front of their shops. I know of one
place that has flags from every Latin American country around the
perimiter of the lot, it looks like the UN for cying out loud.

I've forwarded the pictures to our local VFW as well as the American
Legion and a local radio station. I'm not sure if calling the local police
will do any good as he's not doing anything officially illegal. I've kicked
around the idea of sending the pics to some local flag lovin biker groups.

I belive there is a ceremony that must be done in order to properly retire
a flag. Just setting it on fire would make me as wrong as he is.

If you notice in the pictures both flags are not properly furled, they're
bunched up and since they aren't at the tops of the staff they are legally
    flying at half mast.

Goin on day 6 and the flag is STILL upside down. I've called the
police and they told me the place is not in their jurisdiction after some
run- around I was told that he's not doing anything illegal and they can't
spare the manpower etc. So much for love of our country.

I've decided on a new tactic, I'm posting this in every local forum I
can find. With the intention that, if somebody does a search for his
business they're gonna find out he doesn't care about our flag. I've
posted pictures and even set up my own website on the same web
    host he's using.

If you get a chance email or call this guy and let him know how
you feel about his lack of respect for our country:

I would call the Mayor's office. And then asked when the next city counsel meeting is and asked if you can speak and request the city to correct the misconduct concerning The United State's Flag.

Normally, the police is hired by the Mayor.

what about the sheriff dept or constables in the area?

Find a military vet, like the on in reno who cut down the flag when that piece of crapola mexican flag was above it.
