Can someone from New York explain this?

"NEW YORK: Suffolk County Executive and former State Assemblyman Steve Levy -- who had previously announced his intention to run for Governor as a Democrat -- switched to the GOP on Friday. The move was encouraged by some party leaders, who were concerned former Congressman Rick Lazio has proven in polls to be much weaker than expected in the gubernatorial race. Wealthy businessman Carl Paladino and former Lieutenant Governor Betsy McCaughey are among other Republicans still looking at the race. Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who has yet to formally enter the contest, is certain to be the Democratic nominee. Cuomo starts as heavy favorite to win in November. Governor David Paterson (D) is not running."

Is anyone falling for these 'so called' politicians who don't feel they will notsucceed in one party and then switch to another party and really expect people to vote for them???

This is part of the problem, I think dems run as republicans to help their cause. That is why I don't believe in the parties anymore.

But really, will people vote for him now?? Just very curious :]

They're like big banks. they're socialist when they want a bailout, but conservative when they want to avoid regulation.

did i just say that? i know nothing about big banks.

Not a New Yorker, but it seems very simple. You go gamble where you think you will have the most support and where the money is. Probably someone in Vegas can explain the odds of success for the turncoats. And being a turncoat means that there was little concern of the party voters.
It has come down to not what constituents want, but where the candidate can get the bigger bucks, even selling out his constituency. But perhaps it makes no difference these days as I can no longer tell a Republican from a Democrat! It is all about the money.

never forget. they're in business. they're in the getting re-elected business. they do not answer to us. they answer to aig, pepsico, seiu, citibank, and thousands upon thousands of special interest groups that can buy you and me a thousand times over. now you know why they couldn't be bothered to answer their phones?

even if they were concerned: THEY HAVEN'T READ THE BILLS THEY ARE VOTING ON IN DECADES!

imagine reading the complete works of "William Shakespeare" and Mario Puzos "The Godfather." including a 9 inch high stack of instructions on what you're reading in 48 hours.

that means individual spending items (earmarks) recieve approx. 19 seconds of review each. that was on a 555 billion dollar budget reconciliation bill in 2006. the bill included 1970 earmarks getting voted on in 48 hour period.

unless your a graduate student of Evelyn Woods, you have no chance to read, much less study one of these Porkulus Bills.is it any wonder that all those dems held hands walking off the cliff thinking UHC was ok? THEY NEVER READ IT. NOT EVEN AFTER IT WAS PASSED AS NANCY PELOSI SUGGESTED "MIGHT" HAPPEN.

p.s. is Porkulus Spending bill II right around the corner or has it been passed already?

maybe we could slip in an earmark in the last second; one that includes the death penalty for anyone entering or staying in the country illegally? just maybe they wouldn't read it and would pass it into law, kinda like in the HC bill.

these folks are running a multi-trillion dollar economy. no wonder there were more than a few boo boos in the HC bill. now, let's see what's behind door number two.

bills are made for you and me. sounds like show tune. huh.

If it's run by the Feds they vote for it.
