CDC: Measles outbreak grows to 1,203 cases in 30 states, including Virginia

(WDBJ7) The measles outbreak in the United States continues to grow.

In 2019, 1,203 individual cases have been confirmed in 30 states, including Virginia, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.


That number is up 21 cases from last week.


The CDC says most cases are among people who were not vaccinated against measles.


Other states with cases include Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Tennessee and Washington.


In 2018, the CDC reports there were a total of 372 measles cases.
