Chicago Cops Propose to Discard Entrance Exam to Increase Minority Hires

City Hall sources say that the Chicago Police Department wants to dump its entrance exam because it would boost the hiring of minorities and save money on test preparation and lawsuits filed against the exam process. If the application-only process is implemented, Chicago would become the only major US city that would not have police entrance exams.

Brad Woods, who had been in charge of the Personnel Division under Chicago Police Superintendents Phil Cline and Terry Hillard thinks the idea is the “wrong way to go.â€

To stop giving the entrance exam because it would make it easier for minorities to enter into the police department is assinine. Its also an insult to minorities. If a person cant pass the entrance exam then they should not be able to work as a police officer.

This should be held up as a shining example of PC stupidity. Does this also mean a 350-pound blind person need not qualify for physical training or target practice before being issued a weapon?

Sounds like the "Detroit Philosophy" is speading throughout the Heartland. Probably the Coasts, next. I know around here the "rights advocates" jump all over the concept of profiling, which is vital to law enforcement.
