LANCASTER, Calif. — Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies say they raided a cockfighting operation in Lancaster and found seven children living in dilapidated sheds.

Deputies told the Los Angeles Times they seized methamphetamine worth $1 million and 100 roosters during Wednesday's raid.

The seven children, ages 4 to 17, were turned over to child welfare officials.

They were found living in sheds on property in an unincorporated neighborhood north of Lancaster, in northern Los Angeles County.

Deputies say they recovered five pounds of meth from vehicles on the property, along with several firearms. They also found sparring muffs and steroids for the roosters.

Officials say six adults were arrested for investigation of various narcotics violations but their names were not released.
