Colorado Clean Sweep: “iPad Evie” Hudak resigns to avoid recall

Katie Pavlich at our sister site Townhall.com delivers the news that Colorado Senate Democrats will continue to defy the will of Colorado voters.

Earlier this year, Colorado State Senator Angela Giron and Senate President John Morse, both from blue districts, were recalled and replaced with Republicans. Hudak was likely pressured into her resignation. If she had lost her recall election (which was likely), Democrats in Colorado would lose a majority in the legislature. Now, Democrats will be able to appoint Hudak’s replacement, further ignoring constituents while allowing Democrats to avoid the consequences for anti-gun votes.

Despite the meddling of out-of-state left-wing organizations that tried to smear the recall effort, the grassroots recall appeared to have the signatures required to force a recall election that Hudak would likely have lost, which would have caused Democrats to lose control of the state senate, and which would have set the stage for the repeal of unpopular gun laws forced through the Senate by anti-gun Democrats in the past year.

Hudak admits that her gun votes is what pushed already unhappy constituents into a full-blown recall effort:

“By resigning I am protecting these important new laws for the good of Colorado and ensuring that we can continue looking forward,” Hudak wrote in her resignation letter in regard to her gun votes, which led to the recall effort.

Anti-gun Democrats are running scared in Colorado… and they should be. They’ve avoided losing control of the state senate for now, but they’ve only managed to move gun rights to center-stage in the upcoming 2014 elections… and there isn’t anywhere left for them to hide.
