February 18 in Jefferson City there will be a rally against Common Core. It will take place at around noon time in the rotunda of the capitol building. PLEASE KNOW how important this day is. We need to get as many people there are possible. We are encouraging parents to bring their children to actually see the Constitution of this great Country in action. It will be a great lesson in how the process is supposed to work. Our law makers are paying attention, and if we can get hundreds to show up on February 18th it will not go unnoticed. Please make that day a priority. We need as many people there as possible.

Wisconsin school district votes to replace Common Core with its own standards

Posted by EAGNEWS on Dec 13, 2013

MADISON, Wis. – It appears that Wisconsin lawmakers won’t be getting rid of the Common Core learning standards anytime soon, so leaders in one school district are taking the task upon themselves.

According to Wisconsin Reporter, the Germantown school board voted unanimously on Tuesday to develop its own set of learning standards, which will eventually replace the Common Core standards. The process will begin in January and is expected to take about a year.

Board members say Common Core – which the district has been using since 2011 – isn’t rigorous enough for their high expectations.
“We don’t want to be a mediocre district,” board Vice President Sarah Larson told Wisconsin Reporter.

Germantown school officials know that extricating the district from Common Core isn’t going to be easy, as the state’s mandatory
standardized tests are designed to comply with the new math and English standards. The matter is further complicated by the fact that student test scores impact teacher evaluations and state-issued report cards for districts and their individual schools.

It’s a bit of a jumbled mess, but Germantown school leaders appear up to the challenge.
That puts them at odds with lawmakers who comprised the state Assembly committee charged with reviewing Common Core.

On Wednesday, those lawmakers signaled the controversial learning standards will stay in place for the foreseeable future, although their final report – due later this month – will likely recommend the standards be reviewed periodically to ensure they’re tailored to Wisconsin public schools, WSAU.com reports.

The GOP-controlled Legislature apparently lost its nerve to replace Common Core, partly because Republican Gov. Scott Walker has refused to support the effort. Walker sits on the executive committee of the National Governors Association, one of the two private groups that developed (and hold the copyright to) the Common Core learning standards.

Lawmakers faced another obstacle in state schools Superintendent Tony Evers, who claims the sole constitutional power to adopt or reject the standards. Evers singlehandedly adopted Common Core back in 2010 and vowed to take legal action against the Legislature in the event of a repeal effort, the Associated Press reports.

That leaves the task of repealing and replacing Common Core up to the state’s school district leaders, one district at a time.
Germantown school leaders say they’re more than willing to lead the way.
“Hopefully others see what we’re doing as a model,” Superintendent Jeff Holmes said. “People do have the prerogative to change their minds. If you see a better path, why not take it?”

While we’re all focused on the Middle East right now, especially on Syria, a form of stealth jihad is sneaking into our country…a form of which affects all states…all schools…and all our children…and it’s name is Common Core.
Forced on the states by the Obama administration…enabled by Obama’s federal stimulus law…Common Core will be implemented this school year in the 46 states that have adopted it, thus eliminating local control over the kindergarten through12th grade curriculum in those states. The adoption of Common Core means that teaching becomes a one-size-fits-all affair that will NOT address the needs of the ‘special needs child’…neither the gifted child nor the slow learner…because NO deviation from the standard norm in teaching is allowed.
And there will be NO escaping Common Core as its curriculum and teaching methods will also apply to private schools and the home schooled. In fact, many Catholic and other private schools are adopting Common Core in preparation for college-entrance exams…exams that will be based on Common Core criteria.
Simply put…the truth about Common Core is that it will revamp America’s public educational system and NOT for the better as Common Core also allows for a rewriting of American history, with the new curriculum and accompanying textbooks showing a definite slant and bias towards islam, while at the same time mocking or ignoring America’s Judeo-Christian roots and values.
And with one of its most in-your-face leftist agenda aspects, the Common Core curriculum has, for example, replaced the world’s great literary works with what’s called ‘informational texts’…another name for government propaganda. Shakespeare, Hemingway, and the other literary giants will be replaced by ‘informational texts’ extolling the virtues of same-sex marriage, abortion, drug use, and the all-important acceptance of all things islam. Students in the lower grades will now divide their time between literature and these leftist writings until high school, when literary works will make up a mere 30% of English/Language Arts instruction.
And the teaching of math under Common Core guidelines means getting the right answer just does NOT matter anymore as long as the student can explain the faulty reasoning they used to get to that wrong answer. 2 + 2 = 5 is OK…just explain how you got that answer. And Common Core puts many students mathematically two years behind those of many high-achieving countries. For example, Algebra 1 would be taught in 9th grade NOT 8th grade as previously taught, making calculus inaccessible to them in high school, and this would affect top-tier college entrance requirements.
Also, contrary to the traditional American belief that justice is based on individual rights, Common Core teaches ‘Social Justice’ meaning teachers must teach that America is an unjust and oppressive society that should be changed.
And the most unbelievable of all is that Common Core is using our public schools, Catholic schools, and private schools to indoctrinate our children into islam. ’The Five Pillars of Islam’ are an integral part of Common Core teaching beginning in pre-k and lasting through the12th grade. For example, students have muslim beliefs lessons where they must watch videos, research pre-selected web sites, complete worksheets, and create posters about the duties of muslims.
I wonder if that includes a muslim’s duty to wage jihad…as written in the qur’an.
And even with all this, Common Core still self-promotes itself as a fair and just universal set of educational standards that will unite all students under a common learning system…under common leftist political beliefs…with a curriculum in place that proponents say is designed so that every student graduating from high school is prepared to either enter college or the workforce. But what proponents do NOT tell you is that Common Core actually lowers school standards negating the very thing they promote themselves as doing.
And Common Core is far from the educational panacea that most dissatisfied with our public system of education hoped for as Common Core remains…NO matter how it’s packaged and sold…a one size fits all form of education that ignores the fact that each child is unique…each child’s learning skills or lack thereof is unique…and each state’s educational guidelines are unique.
In fact, Common Core is actually ‘dumbed-down’ education with less teacher responsibility than ever before as there is NO incentive to reach for higher standards, as all states will be judged by the same mediocre national benchmark enforced by the federal government…the Obama federal government.
So while Common Core proponents are in total support of the already ‘too much in control’ federal government setting even more educational standards than they already do, they fail to accept the fact that the federal government should NOT be involved in public education at all nor should they be setting any educational standards as public schools should be under state, county, and local auspices with standards set within each school district to meet the needs of the students going to school in said district.
And when you add in the specific negatives in how Common Core was implemented ‘red flags’ should be waving in the faces of every parent with school age children…’red flags’ waving because Common Core was pushed through state legislatures by unelected bureaucrats who created the Common Core ‘standards’ using monies garnered from special interests groups…meaning there was NO legislative vote by elected officials reflecting the will of the people or the will of the parents.
And in addition to all the educational negatives, schools that have implemented Common Core have government permission to collect private data on each student including religion, medical, and psychological info, and to do so WITHOUT parental consent. WITHOUT parental consent… meaning once again the federal government is butting into our personal lives and doing so without a warrant or just cause…doing so simply because they can.
Also, Common Core does NOTHING to address how teachers actually teach for even with Common Core standards in place teachers will still be teaching to the test…maybe NOT the same tests that are now in effect…but standardized tests nevertheless…with the end result being that parents and teachers will have even less control over their child’s education than they do now.
So with a curriculum so deviated from the much needed basics…reading, writing, and arithmetic… with a curriculum that reeks of the leftist liberal political agenda…and with a curriculum that smells of Agenda 21 indoctrination….Common Core should be rejected by all school districts for the sake of our children…for Common Core is rotten to its very core.

Top School District In The Nation Opts Out Of Common Core Standards (Video)

    (Before It's News)

The dream of every Totalitarian leader from Hitler, Stalin and everywhere in between have always sought to centralize and control education of the youth. The reason is quite simple: For whoever molds the minds of the youth can eventually dominate the population of a country or the world, even if it takes a generation or two or three. That is why tyrants in recent centuries have demanded compulsory, government led education. Take Common Core for example, as you will see in the video below, indoctrination begins as early as the 1st grade. Just remember, Hitler made it perfectly clear that he wanted to use “education” as a tool to mold German children in accordance with the National Socialist regime’s despotic and murderous ideology. As well as Stalin, and numerous other infamous tyrants and mass-murderers. As Karl Marx noted in hisCommunist Manifesto, government-controlled schooling is essential to achieving the goals of socialism. Now that one of the top school districts in the nation says they will not adopt in on Common Core Curriculum, maybe America will pay closer attention.By Kyle Maichle, Editor of Wisconsin Election Watch.Germantown – On Wednesday evening, the Germantown School Board became the first in Wisconsin to oppose the adoption of Common Core standards. The school board’s expressed opposition to Common Core standards came after one day after State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt (R-Fond du Lac) issued survey results on Common Core standards that resulted in varied responses from school administrators across the State of Wisconsin. Rep. Thiesfeldt served as the Assembly Co-Chairman on the Select Committee on Common Core standards.More: Appleton School Board Approves February ReferendumAs a result of the unanimous vote by the Germantown School Board, the school district decided that they will set their own standards for model academic achievement in January. Germantown, located in the Northwest Milwaukee suburbs, is considered to be one of the highest performing public school districts in Wisconsin and in the nation. Germantown High School according to US News and World Report is ranked in the top five percent nationally of the best high schools nationally. District Administrator Jeff Holmes admitted that if Germantown sticked to Common Core, they would fall down a road of mediocrity.More: Ellsworth Voters to Consider School District’s Future in 2014Wisconsin Election Watch contacted Meagan Matthews a Legislative Aide for Rep. Thiesfeldt. She said that she is not aware of any other school boards that are considering to oppose Common Core. According to the survey results school district administrators in Winter and Granstburg have expressed serious concerns about common core. The Marshfield School District said in the survey despite they will adopt Common Core, they feel that their local-based standards are more stringent than the state. However, the survey made no indication if school districts that responded would follow Germantown’s lead. The survey found numerous other districts that are adopting Common Core and feel that the new standards are more stringent.Wisconsin Election Watch contacted Senate Co-Chairman of the Select Committee on Common Core Standards Paul Farrow (R-Pewaukee, 33rd District) for comment. They did not respond to our request for comment at the time of publication. If you think Germantown Wi is a lone, you would be wrong, if fact other school districts around the nation are opting out of the Common Core standards and for good reason as you will see in the video below. Mind you this is at a frirst grade level.
Imagine what kind of person they will have developed by the time your children graduate high school.

Mesa school leaders may reinstate prayer during public board meetings

Posted by EAGNEWS on Jan 4, 2014

MESA, Ariz. – The Mesa school board is having second thoughts about its recent decision to replace the non-denominational prayer that has traditionally opened each board meeting with a moment of silence.

    AZCentral.com
reports the board “quietly ended” the long-standing practice in November after the district’s attorneys advised members they could potentially be sued by those offended by prayer.

“We were told it’s a church-state issue,” Mesa school board member Michelle Udall told the news site in November. “We would likely not win in the long run.”

The board and its attorney became skittish about offering a public prayer after the U.S. Supreme Court justices heard arguments just days before about whether a New York town violated the Constitution by beginning nearly every town council meeting during an 11-year span with an overtly Christian prayer, TheGuardian.com reports.

The Supreme Court is expected to make its decision by June.

It only took Mesa taxpayers, however, a few days to reach their decision about the new policy. AZCentral.com reports board members received 20 emails from residents – all of whom opposed the move.

Mesa resident Harry Scott seemed to capture the community’s sentiment in his email: “MPS has always stood for the solid traditional (and, yes, Christian) values that this country was founded on. Unfortunately, the culture that has defined America’s greatness is eroding into political correctness. Please summon up the courage to stand firm. The district needs prayer now more than ever.”

Board Clerk Mike Hughes suggested that if the board reinstates the practice, it might do so by inviting a wide range of religious leaders to offer the opening prayer.

AZCentral.com reports that until its November decision, Mesa “was one of the few districts to still feature a prayer on meeting agendas.”

Government to Catholic schools: Teach religion our way

Debate flames up over requirement on how mandatory lessons taught

    Published: 17 hours ago

A case is heading to Canada’s Supreme Court over a provincial rule that effectively prevents Catholic schools from teaching religion and ethics from a Catholic perspective.
The issue has significance beyond Canada, according to the Home School Legal Defense Association in the United States, because it would provide further legal basis for government to tell parents how to educate their children.

The Quebec government requires that all schools present “Ethics and Religious Culture.” In 2008, the province passed rules that prohibit instructors from expressing any opinion regarding religious or ethical questions.
Officials with Loyola High School in Montreal, which filed the case, said they were fine with the program, and the materials were satisfactory. But they objected to telling their instructors they were banned from even expressing an opinion regarding religious or ethical questions.
A blogger questioned the logic of the government’s position, arguing that since stripping and charitable work both are legal professions, a teacher might be required to “maintain absolute neutrality in the classroom regarding the social benefits.”
HSLDA, which has a branch in Canada, asserted that a negative ruling by the nation’s highest court “would threaten the right of all parents to teach children in accordance with their religious beliefs.”
“The idea that parents – not governments – should decide how and what children are taught regarding values and religion is enshrined in fundamental notions of basic human freedom. Children are not the mere creatures of the state, and this idea has been uniformly held up as a vital human rights norm all over the world,” the organization said.
Paul Faris of the Home School Legal Defence Association of Canada said that if the ruling stands, “it undermines the very foundations that protect homeschooling.”
“Whatever the court decides will apply to everyone right across the country. A loss could seriously restrict homeschooling freedom,” he said.
Blogger Ray Pennings at The Cardus Daily blog said the appeal includes the question of whether schools have religious rights and to what extent the state can order the teaching of faith or morals.
“Both of these issues are fundamental. This case has the potential (depending on whether the Supreme Court chooses to decide this case narrowly or broadly) to profoundly impact the space that has for generations been enjoyed by Canadian parents to make their own choices regarding the education of their children.”
Faris noted problems already have erupted.
“This curriculum has already seriously threatened the freedom of parents to teach their children in accordance with their religious beliefs,” he said. “The Supreme Court previously ruled in a case in 2012 that the government could force students in public schools to attend the course. If the court rules against freedom of religion in this private school case, it will mean that homeschoolers will be the only ones left. Not only will this mean more pressure on us and a likely court challenge, but if the Supreme Court has already ruled against freedom of religion in two similar cases, they will be unlikely to rule … for us.”
The Canadian Charter of Right and Freedoms, part of the Canadian Constitution, states that everyone has the fundamental freedoms of conscience and religion. In 2005, however, the Québec legislature modified its own charter to let the government impose the curriculum on unsuspecting parents and educators.
Michael Donnelly, the director of International Affairs for HSLDA, said the “trend in recent years to restrict homeschooling in Québec is extremely concerning, particularly [in] light of this case.”
“Freedom of religion in Canada is essential for homeschoolers in Canada. If this case is lost, the right to homeschool will be called into question for all of Canada.” he said.
Arguments are expected before the court in March, with a decision coming later this year.
See a school official describe the problem:

    video is at link below

Michael Smith, president of HSLDA and a board member of HSLDA of Canada, asks HSLDA members and friends to support Canadian homeschoolers in prayer.
“Our brothers and sisters in Canada have asked for wisdom and favor in the eyes of the court. This case reminds us that the freedom to homeschool is under attack not only in places such as Germany, but on our own continent as well. Please pray that HSLDA of Canada will be allowed to intervene in the case in order to argue the impact that a negative decision will have on homeschooling in Canada.”
WND has reported instances in which the Canadian government ordered enforcement of a moral position or belief.
Education Minister Laurel Broten said on the issue of abortion: “The Catholic teachings are one aspect that we teach in our schools, but we do not allow and we’re very clear with the passage of Bill 13 that Catholic teachings cannot be taught in our schools that violates human rights and which brings a lack of acceptance to participation in schools.”
She noted the same law and standards apply to the issue of teaching homosexuality.
“Bill 13 has in it a clear indication of ensuring that our schools are safe, accepting places for all our students. That includes LGBTQ students. … Bill 13 is about tackling misogyny, taking away a woman’s right to choose could arguably be one of the most misogynistic actions that one could take.”
WND also reported government officials in Canada shut down a Christian ministry because it condemned cults and other influences that the Bible condemns.
What used to be called MacGregor Ministries essentially was ordered shut down under that nation’s “hate crimes” laws, which prevent Christians from expressing biblical opinions on a wide range of issues.
The organization moved to the U.S. to become MM Outreach Media Ministries, according to spokeswoman Lorri MacGregor.
She said the ministry points out, with respect, the differences between Christianity and various cult beliefs. She said the work always is in response to a question or issue.
“When a group such as Jehovah’s Witnesses said of our doctrine we’re worshiping a freakish three-headed God (the Trinity), we should be able to respond,” she said. “We say, ‘Here’s the doctrine of the Trinity and here is where it is in the Scripture.’”
For that, the ministry was ordered to either make wholesale changes in its presentations or shut down.
“There was nothing we could do that would please them,” she said. “They wanted us every time we criticized something to say, ‘So Christianity is equal to Buddhism, Islam, Mormonism, Jehovah’s Witnesses. … Just decide for yourself.’”
“We cannot do that,” she said of the work she and her husband, Keith, have spent their lives developing.
The Colorado Springs-based Focus on the Family, one of the largest Christian publishing and broadcasting organizations in the nation, at that time confirmed it had been editing its broadcasts to avoid complications with Canadian “hate crimes” laws.
In a statement attributed to Gary Booker, director of global content creation for Focus, the organization said broadcast standards have a “dynamic nature.”
“Our staff at Focus on the Family Canada works proactively to stay abreast of the dynamic nature of broadcast standards, Canadian Revenue Agency legislation and both national and provincial human rights laws,” the statement said.
“Parameters regarding what can be said (and how it should be said) are communicated by Focus on the Family Canada to our content producers here at Focus on the Family in the U.S. To the best of our ability, programming is then produced with Canadian law in mind,” Focus continued.
“In particular, our content producers are careful not to make generalized statements nor comments that may be perceived as ascribing malicious intent to a ‘group’ of people and are always careful to treat even those who might disagree with us with respect. Our Focus on the Family content creators here in the U.S. are also careful to consult with Focus on the Family Canada whenever questions arise. Focus on the Family Canada, in turn, monitors the content produced in the U.S. and assesses this content against Canadian law,” the group said.
