Daily Presidential Approval Index
Daily Presidential Approval Index
Wednesday, December 17, 2008
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Approval Index for Wednesday shows that 42% of the nation’s voters now Strongly Approve of the way Barack Obama is handling the role of President-elect while 15% Strongly Disapprove. Those figures give Obama a +27 rating, just one point shy of his highest rating to date.
While some have wondered if the scandal surrounding Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich would impact perceptions of Obama, the data shows absolutely no impact. The President-elect’s ratings have been essentially unchanged every day for the past two weeks (see trends). A Rasmussen video report shows that 59% of voters want Obama to make ethics and government reform a priority in his Administration.
The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Rasmussen Reports believes that this is a better measure of public perceptions than the overall approval ratings. Overall, 66% of voters somewhat or strongly approve of Obama’s performance so far while 31% disapprove.
By way of comparison, 13% of all voters Strongly Approve of the way George W. Bush is handling his job as president. Forty-four percent (44%) Strongly Disapprove. That gives the current President a -31 rating on the Presidential Approval Index.
In another tracking poll, consumer confidence fell to another record-low on Wednesday.
A Fordham University professor has rated the national pollsters on their record in Election 2008. We also have provided a summary of our results for your review.
Daily tracking results are collected via telephone surveys of 500 likely voters per night and reported on a three-day rolling average basis. The margin of sampling error—for the full sample of 1,500 Likely Voters--is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Results are also compiled on a full-week basis and crosstabs for the full-week results are available for Premium Members.

That's doesn't make sense to me.
I'm getting sick of seeing Obama Super Star mugging for the camera. Since the election, I've seen him more than Paris Hilton and Linzey Lowhan.
