I think that brand of athletic shoes is 'New Balance' -

We have another worry also. If we choose to buy American and the American company is magnet for illegals - we haven't accomplished anything. In fact, so far the Chinese are just getting our money - and using it to buy our country. If we provide jobs for illegals, we have our money got to Mexico - as well as having to support the workers for these companies.

How does one find out if a company hires illegals? Seriously.

I remember the days when shoes costing more than 25 bucks were made of LEATHER.....real LEATHER.....not these "man made" creations. I worked at a sort of big box store and one of my many jobs was opening the many boxes of shoes ....made in China. The fumes comming from these boxes were un-real. You could just smell the chemicals. They'd have things written in Chinese on papers in there......I used to wonder if it was a kid writing "help me" and I wouldn't know. Hey....8 hours of opening big boxes and little boxes and unwrapping papers and shifting them right-up, left-down......your mind wanders.

If you want to know if an American company hires illegals, contact them. Look them up and see if there has been any raids on them. Do your homework. Support Americans or Support Communism. The choice is yours depending on the label.

Oh yeah Trixie, New Balance, that is one of the only brands my husband can find in his width, all the rest are in "foreign" sizes (non-American made ones tend to all run smaller and much more narrow than the average Americans feet).

Also look up "Columbia Sportswear". They are made right here in the Portland Metro area by Americans. Although their stuff can be spendy, it will last. As well, another company I know of for sure, "Leatherman" utility tools/knives. Any of you guys out there ought to know about those. If something happens you can send it back to the company and they will replace it for free. We get a break as when my husband or brothers have problems with theirs, they drive over to the company and get their replacement. Good company.

As for us women, here's one, "Tweezerman" tweezers. Cost about $20.00, but if you keep the packaging for later use, send the dull tweezers in and they will sharpen and "tune" them for improved use. This is for the life of your tweezers for free, in America.
