WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was charged Thursday with conspiracy to commit computer intrusion in connection with Chelsea Manning's transmission of classified material to the anti-secrecy website, U.S. prosecutors said. Assange, who was arrested by British authorities earlier Thursday, faces a maximum of five years in prison if convicted of the charge.
