Motorists' information lost in bureau burglary
    Tribune staff report
    August 11, 2007
ELGIN - The Illinois secretary of state's office plans to send letters next week to more than 300 motorists whose photos and personal information may have been on a camera cartridge stolen from a facility in Elgin, a spokesman said Friday.

Camera equipment valued at about $200 was reported missing after a break-in Wednesday night at a secretary of state's Department of Motor Vehicles office at 595 S. State St., said Elgin police Sgt. Tamara Welter.

The cartridge contained photographs, names, addresses and license numbers -- but not Social Security numbers -- of people who were issued driver's licenses on Wednesday, Druker said. Social Security numbers are no longer printed on Illinois driver's licenses, Druker said.

Antoerh good reason to Oppose the Real ID. People will be able to steal computers with your social security number and other identifying information and be able to shop and spend and ruin your lives.

Gee I feel Safer already, do you?
