Engineering poverty: policies that will make us a lot poorer
So the question remains: Why would our political leaders deliberately impose energy policies that will unquestionably make us all a lot poorer?

A lot of North American politicians appear to have a tin ear when it comes to the effects their policies impose on their constituents. The current global warming fetish is a case in point, with politicians of all stripes and jurisdictions feverishly attempting to out-green each other. In the process the people those politicians are supposed to serve will ultimately pay more for less, as ill-considered solutions result in steep energy price increases.
Barack Obama’s obsession with reducing America’s carbon output will be particularly devastating to the North American economy as the price of automotive and aviation fuels, hydroelectricity, natural gas and other sources of energy will climb far ahead of the inflation curve.

The poor will likely be hit hardest when they are starved or froze to death because they can afford neither food nor heat. Funny, how it's the poor who most likely vote for Obama and his ilk, yet they will likely be the first to go when things really hit the fan.
