Dershowitz: Cohen Doesn't Know Difference Between Wrong and Illegal

President Donald Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen doesn't seem to understand the difference between something that may be wrong and an activity that might be illegal, Harvard Law Professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz argued Friday, after Cohen spoke of hush payments made to women claiming to have had affairs with the then-presidential candidate.
"Reasonable people could disagree whether it's wrong to pay hush money to somebody to stop them from disclosing alleged improprieties," Dershowitz told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "It is not illegal. A presidential candidate under the law could spend a billion dollars of his own money to do anything in the campaign."
Even if the candidate paid a woman and said he was doing it to help himself be elected president, "that would not be a crime. A president is entitled to make campaign contributions to his own campaign."
And, if he authorized Cohen to make the payments, they are still legal," maintained Dershowitz. "If you look at the very, very complicated campaign laws, the one thing that comes out simply is that a candidate may himself or herself contribute as much as they want to a campaign. If (Michael) Bloomberg decides to run for president he can say I'm not taking a nickel by contributors. I'll put my own money in the campaign and can do it for any reason whatsoever."
Even had Cohen told Trump he was breaking the law with his payments, he would have been wrong, said Dershowitz, as such actions aren't illegal.

Correct. Dershowitz and others should speak up more about our free speech, free assembly, and free press that are under blatant attack by Mueller's Special Counsel in an attempt to frame Trump.
