Fed’s heroin crackdown leads to 4 arrests in Reno

In cooperation with the Reno Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration arrested four men in northwest Reno Wednesday night.

The bust was part of a nationwide year-and-a-half effort to stop the distribution of heroin supplied from Mexico, according to DEA Agent Greg Westfall. Authorities arrested Nestor Valencia, Dario Duart-Gonzalez, Jose Dario Soto-Ibarra and Omar Orozco-Marquez.

Westfall said the DEA's "Project Deliverance" is targeting the supply chain starting with the Mexican connection, transportation and distribution.

Last night's bust yielded significant "bulk amounts" of heroin, and Westfall said this suggests a probable direct connection with a Mexican supplier.
