Thread: First They Came for the English Bloggers

Ah, let's defer for a moment, to a writer who spent much of his effort in addressing the problems associated with governmental power and abuse:

Yes we are probably living in Orwell. It is sad but it is true. It is probably hard-coded deep within us (to allow our societies to converge to the Orwell status). But we could/should change that.

I think we should wait for a further development and see the merit of the charges which have been supposedly brought against that blogger. However I'm not an optimist and I think this despicable threats against Lionheart are sincere and he will be prosecuted.

Americanme They won't have to go after the millions - just enough to fighten the others. That's the way it works.

The government, ours and others, are very good at propaganda. They will prosecute a half dozen cases. The cases will be highly publicized and the prosecuted will either receive some jail time or have his/her life and career destroyed - or both - publicly. The pundits will talk about it endlessly, daily, hourly, for months. The name of the prosecuted will be synomous with Satan - and the people are conditioned.

A couple more of these so called 'protective' witchhunts and think how easy it will be to keep the people silent about the things the government wants to do.

They don't care if someone writes about Islam or not - that isn't the point. It's about stopping people from speaking out - period. The are only using Islam.

PhredE Thanks for the Orwell quotes. I like them all - but I really like the one about controlling the past and the future. The children of today have no real American roots. I mean they are not taught any love of country or pride of country - not like we were. They are taught more about the bad things and bad people and very little about the determination, honor, and hard work of the American people who built it.

Senator Kennedy and others continue to push for more hate crimes/hate speech legislation which would effectively achieve the same results in the United States as is currently happening in parts of Europe. The recent past attempt by Democrats and some Republicans (Trent Lott and Immigration) to resurrect the "Fairness Doctrine," would have curtailed some speech also.

Dear Senator Kennedy, messing with immigration for the past 40 plus years and attempting to silence free speech when it disagrees with his thinking.
