FM-inization of English Language
This post is inspired by a repeat broadcast of Michael Savage's Savage Nation radio show, in which he talked about the "homosexualization" of the English language.
Please consider the following:
Cool It is "good" to be "cool". Cool is the opposite of hot. When you get angry or excited, you physically get warm/hot. But when you are asleep (like America is, note that) you cool down. Which does modern lingo prefer? Angry, excited, uppity, ornery, fighting spirit.... or asleep way calm driftinggg offfffff zzzzzzzzzzzzz...?
Given the choice between high energy & vigor vs. low energy & flacid, as it happens to happen, modern lingo prefers the latter.
Calm Down / Chill Out Much like above, it is "good" to be calm and down and "chill" (cold, like cool, see?)...
by logical extension, it must be "bad" to warm up or be hot under the collar...
Laid Back It's good if you are "laid" and "back". That is, it's good if you're flat on your back... so you see, that it is bad to "stand up" and be "uppity"...
Down with that If you're "cool", you'll be down with various "cool" suggestions. Again, "standing up" and being "uppity" is "bad" by comparison.
P.h.a.t. A woman looks good if she's "phat" = pretty hot & tempting. Notice two things. First, it is not good to be "s.l.i.m." = sexy legs I'll marry... Second, look how stupid my "s.l.i.m." suggestion sounds to you, and how "cool" you think it is to be "phat"...
Summary So Far
It is good to be:
Down
Back
Laid
Cool
Chill
Calm
Phat
Do we see the pattern yet?'Tolerance' just means 'Take it!'
It's not about conforming your mind to reality — but conforming reality to your mind (your mind over matter, not matter over you).
