BOSTON (AP) -- A former Republican congressman and radio talk show host won't be running against Senator Edward Kennedy this fall.
Peter Blute's decision to stay out of the race means Kennedy may run without an opponent for the first time in his 43-year political career.
Blute tells The Associated Press that he would have enjoyed the race against Kennedy, but in the final analysis, it came down to a family decision.
Two lesser-known Republicans are still mulling a possible run against the liberal icon.
Any campaign against Kennedy will be a challenge. The senator already has well over $8 million in his re-election account.
Despite ruling out a run for Senate, Blute says he won't count out a run for lieutenant governor, if one of the current gubernatorial candidates picks him as a running mate
Somebody, get up there and run against this guy. He should be ousted years ago. Don't let him just have the Senate.http://www.alipac.us/
