    George W. Gore

    George W. Gore
    By Alan Caruba

Having betrayed Republicans on all other key issues from education to immigration, the announcement that George W. Bush intends to introduce global warming legislation should come as no surprise.

The Washington Times on Monday reports that, “President Bush is poised to change course and announce as early as this week that he wants Congress to pass a bill to combat global warming, and will lay out principles for what that should include.â€

What we need is a bilateral project ----United States and hockeystick land----that gets in on the developing windpower market. This WILL become a desirable technology as soon as the costs come down and the efficiency goes up. The Great Lakes region has the best concentrated potential for windpower markets, has a surrounding industrial base, has worldwide shipping ports. and has a lot of hungry rust belt and southern Canadian industrial craftsmen looking for work. There are already worldwide efforts improving the efficiency of wind generation and isolated regional projects.

But the Great Lakes region has the industrial muscle to seize the opportunity before it slips away to China. Ther are a lot of windy areas that could use the technology. In Australia the Bass Strait is close to major population centers; in Taiwan the west coast has wind: and across the water Chima has people; hawaii does, the US PAcific Coast does; and of course the Great Lakes is full of wind plus has at least fifty million consumers.

Five years from now may be too late.

Illegal immigration causes overpopulation, water shortages, pollution, and many other issues that effect greenhouse gases.

Bush is just jealous that Gore got a Pulitzer Prize.

Taiwan already has giant wind generators on their west coast, with the price of oil and gas (which they have to import) I am sure they will be putting more up for their own needs.
