GOP Dominates List Of Top-Rated Governors

Posted By Phillip Stucky On 10:03 AM 04/11/2017

The list of highest-rated governors in the nation is filled completely with Republicans, according to a Morning Consult poll published Tuesday morning.

Each of the top ten governors is Republican, starting with Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker who holds a 75 percent approval rating, and ends with Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal who has a 63 percent approval rating.

The list also featured Republican Govs. Larry Hogan of Maryland, Doug Burgum of North Dakota, Phil Scott of Vermont, Dennis Daugaard of South Dakota, Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, Greg Abbott of Texas, Bill Haslam of Tennessee, Brian Sandoval of Nevada, and Gary Herbert of Utah.

There were no Democrats on the top 10 list.

The poll also revealed that New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie is officially the lowest-rated governor in the nation.

[dcquiz] Christie’s approval rating was a stunningly low 25 percent with 71 percent disapproval. Christie wasn’t far from the second and third lowest governors, Republican Sam Brownback of Kansas and Democrat Dan Malloy of Connecticut. They both held a 66 percent disapproval rating, although Brownback has a slightly lower approval rating.

The findings could result from the fact that Republicans now control 33 governorships compared to Democrat’s low 16.

Republicans were also well-represented at the bottom of the pack, Malloy was the only Democrat in the bottom 10 and Alaskan Independent Bill Walker was the fifth lowest-rated governor.

The poll included responses from 85,000 registered voters and took place January through March. The poll didn’t include a margin of error.

You would think our states would be getting better.

We have had a Republican governor for years.

You would think the Republicans, law and order type, would do something about illegal immigration in Texas. Texas has been aiding and abetting illegal immigration longer than any other state with the possible exceptions of CA, and Florida.

    Number wise, anyway.

They've been stopped by federal DemoQuacks. Now, things are different, so I hope they'll get back to passing their state immigration laws and getting state and local law enforcement onto the task! We can solve this problem in its entirety in 2 years or less if they do.

I can't give one little bit of a pass to the Republicans. They were just as deep into it as anyone else. Some more so.

Remember, our very own George W. was our governor and then became a very vocal supporter of illegal immigration. Our last Democrat governor was 1991.

One thing we have to admit is the so called Republicans are not acting in our best interest. The one party system keeps potentially better candidates from even getting on the ballot.

The Republican have had plenty of clout in Texas in the recent years. As I said, they were the most supportive of illegal immigration - one of the first, actually.

Now when I was a child, my family were the only Republicans I knew. Everyone was still voting Democrat in honor of FDR.
