EL PASO, Texas (AP) - The National Weather Service says a flash flood warning is in effect for El Paso County as torrential rains continue to fall in the region.
County spokeswoman Chris Acosta said Thursday that some area roads are under water and at least two families were taken to shelters when their homes in east El Paso County were flooded. No injuries have been reported.
NWS meteorologist Greg Lundeen says some areas have seen as much as four inches of rain since Wednesday night, nearly half the annual average. Lundeen says the rainstorm is part of a weather system spanning from West Texas north to Colorado, where flooding has caused at least three deaths.
He says the storm is weaker than the rains in 2006 that caused major flooding and damage.
