Homeowner opens fire, kills suspect during home invasion

HOUSTON – The tables were turned Thursday on a group of suspects who held a woman at gunpoint during a southeast Houston home invasion, according to Houston police.

Police said two men and one woman approached a unit in the Broadway Square Apartments located in the 8600 block of Broadway around 10:45 p.m. A man and a woman were home at the time.

The female suspect knocked on the door, then hid from view. The woman inside the home said she looked out the peep hole first, but after not seeing anyone, opened the door to look outside.

That is when one of the suspects, 33-year-old Miguel Antonio Valencia-Mejia, pushed his way into the residence, grabbed the woman’s hair and pointed a pistol at her head.

The woman’s boyfriend heard the commotion and retrieved his shotgun.

He rushed out of the bedroom and opened fire.

Valencia-Mejia was shot and died by the front door. The other two suspects fled the scene.

Police said no charges have been filed against the residents.

I have a good friend and relatives in Houston. They absolutely hate it.

In just ten years it has gone from being a great place to live to a great place to die.

Mexican gangs run openly free. Many daylight home invasions, with carnage. The worse the depression gets, the worse Houston will get. And the rest of the country.

Self defense of ones family and home using a firearm is against the law here in NYC.

Well at least for us "common citizens."

Another one of those honest hard working saints here looking for a better life and doing a job Americans won't do.

This one is right up there for a jobs Americans won't do. I am still trying to find out more information on this guy as I cannot find his booking info. My friend works nights in that district so I will see what he has to say.

Hollywood man accused of voyeurism

HOLLYWOOD — A man was arrested after police said he was peeping through the window of a woman's home while standing outside masturbating.

Juan Miguel Cuadra, 35, told police he hadn't had a "girlfriend for a while and was desperate," according to the report of the New Year's Day incident.

The events that led to Cuadra's arrest began at 5:48 a.m. Saturday, when a woman phoned police about a man standing outside her apartment in the 3800 block of Van Buren Street. Cuadra lives about two blocks away.

The woman told a 911 dispatcher that a man was looking into her bedroom window. She hid inside her laundry room, worried he might break into the apartment, an arrest report said.

An officer responded and found a man staring through a window and masturbating. When the officer told the man to show him his hands, the man zipped up his pants and walked away. The officer ordered him to stop walking, and he did.

Cuadra said the woman in the apartment was his ex-girfriend, then that she was a co-worker, before admitting he didn't know her, the report said.

He was taken into custody and charged with indecent exposure, voyeurism and loitering or prowling.

The scary part of the shooting is that the woman inside of the home could have been killed. A gun pointed to her head and couldn't the shotgun blast have hit her also? Sounds strange, who would take that chance?
