I listened to Glenn Beck yesterday talk about the deficit. And once again he made no mention of our founding father`s method for extinguishing deficits.
Nor would I expect him to. Nor any other talking heads. Well maybe a few, but not many, and not those who are fed well.

Not to disregard your other question, but one for you. How much of the Constitution do you want to keep? Can we disregard this portion concerning taxes and keep the more favorite parts?

We should abide by the entire Constitution and if change is found to be needed, then follow Article V

BTW, and just for the record, let it be known that Newt Gingrich also SUPPORTS the fake balanced budget scam.

[b][i]“A constitutional amendment to require a balanced budget is just the reform that can concentrate the minds of voters and rally them in favor of an effort to balanced budgets. We are encouraged that Democrats and Republicans are committing to support H.J. Res 1, the Balanced Budget Amendment.â€

Johnwk, Just a little note, perhaps a bit of praise towards the founders and their tax plan. This should be supported by the "greenies" as this would go towards reduction of waste.

A more efficient tax collection plan would lead to more efficient spending and thereby reduce duplication in the services and reduce waste. It would force more efficient and sustainable spending on all fronts and projects. More accountability across the board, not just at the federal government level. Less room for thievery.

I share your thoughts and must add, because of the failure of prior Congresses to apply the apportioned tax when deficits occur, there has been no accountability for many, many years, and so, not only do we now have a national debt in the trillions of dollars, we also have an annual deficit in the TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS, and our children and grand children will inherit this monstrous bill and be denied their economic liberty!

Is it not our obligation to not enslave our children and grand children? Our founding fathers thought it was criminal to pass debt from one generation to another, and this is one of the very reasons for which they put the apportioned tax into our Constitution. Unfortunately, it appears that America may have lost her honor and enslaving our nation’s children is irrelevant so long as today’s society can live in comfort and enjoy its luxuries.

We are here today and gone tomorrow, but what is most important is what we do in between, and is what our children will inherit and remember us by.

Thanks for your time spent on this post. This helps me to put a finer point of understanding on the fiat dollar.

Not only was the Federal Reserve Act passed and was the beginning of the end of the gold standard, but, the 16th Amendment had to be in place to achieve the results of today.

The fiat with a constitutionally mandated tax structure would have faired much better than a fiat linked to the 16th, as progressive spending policies would not have been afforded to the same degree.

Perhaps not well stated, but, there is a correlation between the two. A symbiotic one at that.

Our quality of life has been stripped away for the breads and circuses that desires have afforded us. We have been caught with our pants down.
