Thread: Kevin Eubanks Disses Kid on TV Over Arizona Law

This kid starts his trick at 2 mins. Kevin Eubanks insults and disses him at 2:55.

Leno asked various members of the audience to perform their own special tricks, i.e. whistling like a bird, clapping hands very fast, etc. These performers were then judged by three men from the Tonight Show staff. One of the judges was Kevin Eubanks, guitar player for the Tonight Show band.

Each judge could award a meal (i.e. a ticket for a free meal at a local restaurant) if they approved of the performance, or withhold a meal if they did not approve.

One 16 year old kid from Arizona was a soccer player. His trick was to balance a soccer ball on the back of his neck while removing his jersey, without dislodging the soccer ball. Two of the judges awarded the kid a meal based on his performance. Not Kevin Eubanks. He asked the kid, "Did you say you were from Arizona?" The kid replied, "Yes."

Eubanks then told the kid he awarded "no meal" and began speaking to the kid in Spanish...

Kevin Eubanks was a jerk. The audience didn't like it either. BOYCOTT EUBANKS! NO MEALS FOR KEVIN!

That was a cool trick by the kid.

I'm sorry, who is Kevin Eubanks again and why should anyone in the nation care about his opinion?

William, I'm sure you could care less about Kevin Eubanks or his opinion, but I would have thought you would care about that poor innocent 15 yo kid who was insulted and embarrassed on national TV. For what? Merely being a kid living in Arizona.

Do you really think a Latino kid would have been insulted and dissed like this by Kevin Eubanks, even if he lived in AZ? The answer is NO! If the kid was named Juan Ramirez and lived in AZ and could balance a soccer ball on his back he would have had his butt kissed, instead of dissed!

This kid was treated the way he was solely based on the fact he is a KID (and not Latino) who lives in Arizona!

Maybe you don't care about this story, but there are many of us who do.

If it was a White guy dissing a Latino kid for being an Anchor baby from California...Jay Leno's show would be cancelled in a heart beat. This reverse discrimination has gone way too far and the kid should have just told them to shove their meal ticket!

Well I believe in combatting the ignorance everywhere I can and this poster has graciously made it easy for me to do so. Maybe these people can be awakened and I am going to try.

Don't let them get away with this blatant discrimination of an innocent White kid just because he was white and from Arizona...write to the show and tell them how disgusting Kevin Eubanks's behavior was. If we let this go without saying anything about it...well, here we go again, allowing this kind of racism to go on, unquestioned and setting a precendence for more of this to happen!

WRITE TO THEM!! AND TELL THEM THIS KIND OF BLATANT RACIAL DISCRIMINATION ON THE LENO SHOW IS APPALLING!! The kid didn't get a fair shake based on his skin color and where he resides!!

Kevin Eubanks recently announced he is leaving the Jay Leno Show, so I think --regrettable as this incident was--that he also could care less what anyone thinks about his action.

I'm just saying that Kevin Eubanks is a big nobody.
