Latinos encouraged to hike, explore open space
Irvine Ranch Conservancy and Latino Health Access team up to promote public hikes.
The Orange County Register
In an effort to introduce the Latino community to local open space and getting fitter, the Irvine Ranch Conservancy and Latino Health Access hosted the first in a possible series of hikes called "Enjoying Sundays on the Ranch."
There is a need to getting Latinos more active and exposed to the outdoor opportunities that are available, said communications developer Gabriela Gonzalez,
The program consists of various outdoor activities available for the entire family including a 6-mile hike to Dripping Springs. Also offered is a hike up Hick's Haul Road, which is geared for children. This outing is a leisurely 2-mile, stroller-capable, round-trip journey.
