At least 20 injured in Florida high school mass shooting

PARKLAND, Florida — More than 20 people are injured after a mass shooting happened Wednesday inside a high school in South Florida.

It is considered an active shooting situation at Stoneman Douglas High School, and the shooter is still inside the building. Several students were believed to still be inside at 3:30 p.m.


The shooting began Wednesday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. Eastern. Broward County has classified it as a "Level 3" casualty incident, meaning at least 20 people are wounded.


It's an active investigation and much of the area around the school is blocked off to the public.


President Donald Trump has been briefed on the shooting.


Stoneman Douglas High School has more than 3,000 students in grades 9-12.


Fox News is reporting that authorities have identified the shooter a student who was in class today. No name has been released.


Parkland is located between West Palm Beach an Fort Lauderdale, near Coral Springs.
