Man who burned Koran at Ground Zero fired from job as NJ Transit employee

The man captured on camera ripping pages out of a Koran and burning them near Ground Zero in lower Manhattan Saturday -- the ninth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks -- was fired from his job at NJ Transit, the New Jersey transportation provider told NewsCore Tuesday.

NJ Transit said that Derek Fenton's "public actions" violated its code of ethics and that he “violated his trust as a state employee.â€

if it says AT will ... then he's out of luck

but if he's part of some union .... oh man the pay day could be BIG for this guy .....

hey i bet people would burn korans just to get fired in order to sue !

It would have been interesting to see if he had burned a Bible, if he would have been fired, and with such speed. Some religions are "more equal than others."

Americans have free speech if you don't mind having your life threatened or taken, losing your job and house, and being smeared by million dollar press outfits.

So employees of NJ Transit can't protest? I don't understand this firing over burning a Koran.

This should get interesting. Aren't most transit jobs connected with a union? Even the office support jobs are unionized I think. And they have very strong unions. I bet this guy just hit pay dirt.
