Footage out of fire-ravaged Lahaina, Hawaii, shows crews have erected an extensive line of black curtains blocking citizens from seeing what’s going on as hundreds of people are still reported missing.

“There seems to be a huge emphasis on ensuring that the media and anyone else can’t see what’s going on,” Cygnus reported in a recent video.

“There are miles and miles of this black fence going up that was not here before that is obscuring ground zero and making sure no one can see what’s going on inside of there from the road, no one can get in there, no one can take any pictures.”

Moreover, Cygnus said he was told to leave by National Guard members as he attempted to film the new black curtains from the side of the road, underscoring how authorities are keen on keeping the operation under wraps.

News of the cordoned-off zones comes as questions linger over the hundreds of missing Lahaina residents, with numerous journalists reporting they’ve been told not to film, or fly drones in the area, and FEMA advising workers not to take photos or video.

The mayor of Maui, in the meantime, has instilled zero confidence in residents, instead threatening to shut down press briefings in response to questions over how many children are among the missing.
Meanwhile, disturbing reports have emerged that police set up blockades and trapped people from being able to escape to safety as the wildfires raged on August 8, further adding to the mystery of whether people died due to a natural disaster, or administrative murder.

An anonymous tip claims that in a letter dated Aug. 19, 2023, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) ordered an official media blackout on all new disaster footage.
Allegedly signed off on by Justin Angel Knighton, the director of FEMA's Office of External Affairs, the letter reportedly states that the media is not to show any footage or photos of the disaster's aftermath, likely because visual evidence would blow major holes in the official story of what happened.
"A person wishing to stay anonymous has sent me this email by FEMA sent to their nonprofit who is headed to Maui to help with disaster relief," reported Anthony Cabasa.
"They say they are being asked to STOP posting any images or videos while on the ground effective immediately."
The letter states that the media should avoid showing anything about the Lahaina disaster "[o]ut of respect for those who perished," and not because the government is trying to hide something.
"... we were asked by Maui County officials to pause on posting on social media and elsewhere new imagery of damage / disaster / debris starting now," one media source confirmed about the letter.
"They are asking for a full stop on disaster imagery going forward. At this time, we have not been asked to take any photos or video down. Our team on the ground is coordinating with the County for further guidance to ensure we remain fully aligned. Cultural sensitivity is of the utmost importance in all our response and recovery activities to this disaster."

Fox News' Will Cain confirmed much of this as well, stating that he believes his network is currently "the only national media in West Maui."
"I haven't seen any other crews," Cain said. "And they tried to censor us and shut us down. 'West Maui is a media free zone.' We only got through the checkpoints because I'm a property owner in West Maui. They have this place on info lockdown from Waihee to Maalaea.
While there are, in fact, a number of citizen journalists present in and around West Maui, Cain says Fox is the only "official" news source that has been able to gain access to the affected area because of FEMA's orders.
Nick Sortor, one such citizen journalist, has been documenting the ever-worsening situation in West Maui. According to Sortor, the only people helping the survivors right now are non-governmental entities.
"It's essentially ALL volunteer and non-profit operations," Sortor confirmed. "FEMA is doing practically nothing. Very frustrating."
Keep in mind that FEMA administrator Deanne Criswell is begging Congress for more funding, claiming that the agency is about to run out of cash in the coming weeks apart from a massive taxpayer-funded injections.
According to Criswell, she and FEMA have been working closely with fake president Joe Biden throughout the disaster to coordinate a response. We wonder how this is possible, though, considering Biden has been on vacation the entire time, first on a beach in Delaware, then in Lake Tahoe.

The combination of government negligence and the immediate response of corporations to the wildfire on the Hawaiian island of Maui that pretty much obliterated the town of Lahaina strongly suggests that the fire is being used as a pretext to turn the place into a "smart city."A smart city – a term sometimes interchangeably used with the "15-minute city" – is a modern, technologically advanced municipality wherein municipal services like traffic control, energy distribution, water services, waste collection and even elections are handled, at least to some extent, in an automated and "intelligent" manner. This can be done using sensors, connected smart devices, communications technologies and artificial intelligence. The theory stems from a post commenting on a video surveying the damage done to Lahaina. This post noted how, in January, a tech conference held on Maui – the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences – focused almost entirely on ways to turn the entire island "into an entire smart island." This transformation would entail changing the island's entire power grid into one relying on renewable energy and "pushing everybody into electric vehicles."
The post further notes that, in September, Maui will be hosting the Hawaii Digital Government Summit which will focus on ways in which AI can be used to essentially take over the running of the government.

Seth Holehouse, remarking on the theory in his program "Man in America," notes that this theory "makes too much sense" due to the convergence of multiple factors that made it possible for the wildfire that ravaged Lahaina to be as devastating as it was.
"When you start looking into the details of these fires, you start to have a lot of really strange stuff that you're finding," said Holehouse. "You're finding that the local governments weren't actually helpful. In fact, they were inhibiting people's ability to escape. You find that they weren't using the practices to properly maintain the forest to make sure these fires wouldn't happen. You find that they're cutting water off."
"You find that there's so many other things that were happening and laws that were recently passed, saying that this land can only be reclaimed if there's a very bad natural disaster," he continued. "And so, you can see that something sinister is afoot. And at the same time, we're hearing the discussions about smart cities … and there's so many ways this story could fit together."
"Fact checkers" immediately "debunk" smart city claim

Multiple mainstream media outlets immediately jumped on the claims regarding the establishment of a smart city in Lahaina by claiming that it was false.
The Associated Press claimed that the January conference in Maui was not about turning the island into a smart island but instead a more general conference on emerging information technology around the world. AP further argues that the Digital Government Summit is not about using AI to run the government but about how to "adapt emerging technologies."
Similarly, USA Today claimed that "there is no evidence that the Maui wildfires were intentionally set" by the government as part of an effort to reclaim Lahaina and turn it into a smart city.
Even the office of Hawaii's Democratic Gov. Josh Green wrote an emailed statement supposedly debunking the claims. "There is no truth to the horrendous assertion that the fires were deliberately set to raze the historic town of Lahaina, which was the first capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom," he said.
"The idea of resorting to destructive measures, causing harm to a historic landmark and resulting in numerous fatalities, all in an attempt to transform Maui into a smart island, stretches the boundaries of my imagination," claimed Tung Bui, an IT professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and chair of the January conference.
