Mayor Villaraigosa booed, Beckham cheered at L.A. welcome

Embattled and scandal-plagued Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was booed at the Los Angeles David Beckham Coronation.


Villaraigosa heard boos when he stepped to the microphone at today's media debut of new Galaxy member David Beckham in Carson.


Blogger Kevin Roderick who writes for LA Observed notes that it truly came through on TV, with the mayor looking stricken and taken aback by the chilly reception.

He claims City News Service calls it "a notable round of boos."

Beckham enjoyed a warm response during his L.A. introduction while the Mayor was seen chafing, as the euphoric soccer fans let it be known that Becks was welcome. Villaraigosa? Not so much.
