    Gunnin' Up. Am I Crazy?!

Why is it that I find myself "gunning up" lately? New weapon, more ammo. I was NEVER a survivalist, a gun collector or an alarmist. Is anyone else experiencing this phenomenon? If so, I would like to know what others are doing!

Even in liberal New York, guns are flying off the shelves, and try getting ammo, good luck.

I've never owned more than hunting rifles in the past, but since fall of last year I went out and bought my first hand gun and got a "carry concealed" license. I can't begin to tell you the hassle this caused me when I crossed the border...LOL! They saw it on my license and sent me into the second inspection part of customs.

Well I got my greatuncle's hand-me-down from WWII out and cleaned her up, and oiled everything so I can put food on the table. Love those old "peep sights". Also got my cap and ball pistols back in operations. Too many coyotes here, and they can be a problem if you have game you are dressing out.

Love the store or hate it - WalMart usually has ammo at fairly good prices. Ask me how I know.

Ok Reggie, how do you know?
Actually, Academy Sports and Outdoors seems to have a very good supply at reasonable prices. Dicks Sporting Goods also is a good place. I just bought a HD shotgun on clearance there for a very good price!

Nomas, I got my CCL last year but don't carry as much as I should!

Actually, what I am really looking for is the psychological reasons that others are using to rationalize gunnin' up. My reason? Honestly, I am concerned about an economic collapse and ensuing chaos that could occur. All the signs are there. Are my concerns ill founded?

For our family, practicing at a firing range is a sport like shooting pool or playing basketball.

A secondary concern is the Mexicanization of our town, with an increase in criminal activity. Even walking my dogs on the local bike path, there are gang tags everywhere, including MS13 and Latin Kings. For the first time, we felt it necessary to install an alarm system in our home. If we can ever sell our house, we're outta here.

As far as the economy, our financial advisor believes there may be difficult times ahead but she does not foresee a total collapse.

It never hurts to be prepared... Just in case.
