Thread: McDonald's Scholarships for Hispanics only?

I came across a post on a newspaper (Orange County Register) website blog that might interest those of you who frequent the McDonald's food chain.

The poster said that they had visited a McDonald's outlet and saw an ad for a chance to get a $100,000.00 scholarship. The ad contained a web address which is http://meencanta.com/ .

Going to this website one finds themselves having to choose changing the language option to English as the site begins in Spanish. The most disturbing aspect of the site is that the application for the scholarship contains a line requiring the applicant to prove they have at least one Hispanic parent.

I will no longer spend my money at McDonald's.

Our local McDonald's will not hire American kids unless they're bilingual. The illegals working in the kitchen are exempt from that requirement.

Thank you. That's something that I had not heard before. All the more not to buy there. I don't know if you're in California or not but I, for one, will patronize the In N Out burger joints from now on. Their facilities are clean and their staff at least the ones I've seen, all look like clean cut kids who speak English as a first language.

I'm in the sanctuary state of Illinois. The Wendy's in town tried using illegals but they heard so many complaints from citizens that they stopped that practice. Nice to have at least one company listen to their customers.

Yeah, I used to live in Chicago at 26th and Pulaski years ago. You probably won't find many English speakers in that neighborhood today.

I actually posted that in the newspaper, as soon as I saw the advertisement, I blew a gasket, and actually spoke to the owner of the restaurant

needless to say, I believe the best course if action, is hit them in the wallet, and encourage others to do so
