CSpan2 this a.m.-Yahoo testimony before House Comm (11/7/07)
6:58am PT
As some may know, Yahoo is under much criticism for aiding (passing along private information) about a Chinese government critic to the government.
Jerry Yang (Yahoo CEO), Michale Callahan (Yahoo Counsel) representing Yahoo.
This is shameful and extremely embarrassing. They are choking on every answer, and simply cannot or WILL not answer the Reps questions.
Rohrabacher just grilled both Yahoo guys (above) It wass about as ugly a grilling I've ever seen under these arrangements.
Why do I post this thread? Answer: 2 reasons.
1. Corporate responsibility - they're giving answers which continue to dodge the questions and imply that they want to keep operating as if nothing new has happened.
2. Consumer awareness - Do you want to continue to patronize a corp. which as falling down big time in the area of corporate responsibility?

I totally agree Phred E. This is disgusting and inexcusable what they did.
How could they live with themselves knowing they helped send this man to a Chinese prison? I shudder to think what those conditions are like.

Nicole - yes, I hear ya'.
(I'll admit, after following the contortions of Congress in the last 1.5 years, I've become a bit of a CSpan/2 junkie...)
Anyway, yes - and the really amazing or sad part of this hearing was that the Yahoo guys not only lacked an understanding that they did anything wrong, they were totally unprepared to answer the Reps' questions.
It was downright ugly and embarrassing.
Mark my words: multi-national corporations are a threat to the modern nation-state. Having no allegiance to any 'home', government, place, is a threat to ALL sovereign nations. Yahoo appears to fit the mold quite predictably.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
