AND THEN came IRS audits of conservative groups to limit fund raising prior to the 2012 election. IRS computer hard drives mysteriously crashed and burned. Obama declared that “not a smidgeon of IRS corruption” was found. Lois Lerner, who followed marching orders from her White House boss, resigned. Tch! Tch! Tch! Poor baby! Now she must scrape by on a paltry $100,000+ annual government pension, courtesy of We-the-taxpayers. (Did you receive a “thank you” note? Neither did I. Must be the postal system . . . but I digress. That’s a story for another day.)

NOW COMES THE TIME to wave bye-bye to Iraq, courtesy of Obama and his political advisors who made sure no residual force was left behind to help guide military operations in the fledgling democracy. How’d that work out for America? Not so well. Despite the death of 4,500+ brave warriors, injuries to another 35,000, and $1.7 Trillion dollars, Iraq is failing. ISIL has captured America/Iraqi armaments which they use to gain control of major Iraq cities, slaughter thousands, and take over Kurdish territory. While ISIL closes in on Baghdad, Obama bombs small trucks and grain warehouses, claims victory, and refuses to fully arm the Kurds who are the only boots on the ground fighting against ISIL.

COMING SOON, another tragic waste of blood and treasure as American-built outposts are turned over to the Afghanistan military (such as it is), and the Taliban returns with vengeance. Despite the loss of 2,500 lives of our best and bravest, and billions of dollars worth of “ghost money bribes” paid to former Afghan President Karzai, Obama has ordered an Iraq-like retreat from Afghanistan. He has set the stage for ISIL.2.

BE MINDFUL of the Ebola crisis in West Africa. As healthcare workers and others with symptoms of the disease land in America, Obama threatens state governors not to quarantine people coming from the plague zone. He also is talking about bringing Ebola-infected patients from Africa to America for treatment. What about that makes sense? Or, is the motive the usual, “gotta’ level the playing field?”
And, in the meantime, Obama plays golf, travels from fund raiser to fund raiser, but isn’t invited to many campaign events. His fellow-travelers don’t want any publicity about their support of his program to lie, deny, and falsify.

Billionaires Buy Gun Control in Washington: ‘Straight to Voters, Bypassing Politicians Terrified of NRA’

Can billionaires buy the disarmament of America?

It is a real and growing concern. Though other attempts to restrict guns at the federal level have failed during the Obama Administration, several states – including Connecticut – have successfully passed them – notably with the help of some very deep pockets and headline-grabbing media events.

The latest is Washington state, which just passed Initiative 594, intensifying background checks and placing strict limits on personal firearm transfers (and more), with nearly 60% of the vote. A competing Initiative 591, which would have prevented the state from having more extensive background checks than the federal level, failed with only 45%.

Most media coverage has hailed the gun control measure as a victory for the people, at last bypassing the stranglehold of the NRA over politicians who have blocked reforms:

A U.S. News and World Report story carried this quote:

"While the NRA may be able to intimidated legislators, it appears that they are unable to intimidate voters," says John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. [sic]

A Seattle Times editorial stated:

ON the intractable issue of gun control, Washington voters have shot back.
Tuesday, voters took aim at the state Legislature's inability last year to pass basic, public safety-focused background checks. And they shot holes in the myth that the National Rifle Association and its allies represent the public interest.
[...]
The 3-to-2 margin in favor of I-594 indicates voters saw through the disingenuous argument made repeatedly by opponents of I-594 that background checks are the first step toward mass gun confiscation.

The Atlantic summarized its story with the subheader:

In Washington state, advocates passed some straightforward controls—by bypassing politicians terrified of the NRA and going straight to voters.

Gun control initiative 594 got a last minute bump from the tragic but conveniently timed school shooting in Marysville on October 24, driving sympathy and headlines to the issue about a week and a half before the election.

But the real push for I594 was from billionaires, including Michael Bloomberg and Bill Gates, who dropped an overwhelming $10 million to support the gun control initiative, while opponents – including the 'all-powerful NRA' – spent only about half a million. Other Microsoft execs pitched in as well.



It certainly seems money talks. To sway another 2014 ballot initiative, Nevada resident and billionaire Sheldon Adelson shelled out some $5.5 million to successfully oppose Florida's attempt to legalize marijuana.

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg reportedly spent as much as $50 million from his personal funds just on the 2014 elections, backing the Everytown for Gun Safety movement. Bloomberg has heavily backed Moms Demand Action, formed in response to the Sandy Hook shooting, as well as Mayors Against Illegal Guns, which he formed circa 2006.

Flush with tens of millions in commitments from Bloomberg and other wealthy elites, Moms Demand Action promised back in March 2013 to "punish" lawmakers resistant to gun control in 2014 with new money to push for gun legislation – and Washington state is now a prime example of the support for ballot initiatives that money can buy.

However, reports are floating the idea that this is just a test case of future gun control initiatives to come (Nevada may be next for Bloomberg).
The barrier to passing gun control legislation with 2nd Amendment supporters in Congress at both the national and state levels has a loophole. President Obama thinks his "pen and a phone" allows him to write laws via executive order; similarly, the big money behind that agenda has found another venue – propaganda aimed directly at the voters.

If the people can be persuaded to give up their own rights, after an election season barrage of ads, newspaper buys, editorials, and other media blitzes, then billionaires who want rights restrictions for the masses can get their way.

Democracy in action? What about the rights guaranteed to individuals under the republic?

Here’s the Sneaky Way Obama’s FBI Is Lying to You about Gun Crimes

Liberals hate guns. They hate the very idea of gun ownership, and they believe that the benevolent, all-knowing, and all-good government with guns is the best way to keep you and me safe.
And it’s all a lie.
Dr. John R. Lott, Jr., author of More Guns, Less Crime and The Bias Against Guns: Why Almost Everything You’ve Heard About Gun Control is Wrong, reviewed a recently released FBI report and found that the statistical analysis of the data was misleading.
In other words, they’re lying. And they’re lying in a way that makes guns and gun ownership look bad.
The problem is that the statistical analysis used by the FBI to support their anti-gun position changes the definition of terms when comparing time periods. This is the same kind of dishonest analysis that the current administration uses to say that unemployment is better than it really is.
The Feds say that people who have been unemployed too long or who are underemployed (i.e. working part time but not making as much as they need to make to survive) are not considered unemployed. This is a change that came with this administration to make the situation look better than it really is.
In the same way, the FBI has redefined “mass shootings” to a much lower level than previously. For example, the FBI previously had defined mass shootings as four or more people killed. However, in their review of 160 incidents since 2000, 31 of their cases did not have a single death or wounding and 35 of the cases had fewer than two people killed. This on top of the fact that that they conveniently left out the 1990s which had a high number of mass shootings, so you only have data relating to the past 14 years.
This neglect denies the reader of the report access to a context in which the put the statistics so you can’t tell if the numbers are as bad as they say or actually better than it used to be. Compounded with shifting definition for terms like “mass shootings” and you set up a situation where people can’t tell how things really are.
Of course, they conveniently left out data showing that 92% of mass shootings are in “gun free zones” and that gun murders are at their lowest since 1981.
How’s that for transparency from this administration? They’re lying to us, and most people don’t know how bald-faced the lie really is.

New Texas Bill Would Ban Enforcement of Federal Gun Control

AUSTIN, Tx., November 13, 2014 – A Texas state representative has introduced a bill to thwart enforcement of virtually all federal gun control measures within the state.

Introduced by newly re-elected Representative Tim Kleinschmidt (R-Lexington), House Bill 176 (HB176) declares all federal restrictions on the right to keep and bear arms to be “invalid” and “not enforceable” within the state of Texas. It reads, in part:

A federal law, including a statute, an executive, administrative, or court order, or a rule, that infringes on a law-abiding citizen’s right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution or Section 23, Article I, Texas Constitution, is invalid and not enforceable in this state.

If passed into law, all government agencies and employees within Texas would be banned from enforcing any federal law in violation of the act. The prohibition on enforcement includes any federal act that:

(1) imposes a tax, fee, or stamp on a firearm, firearm accessory, or firearm ammunition that is not common to all other goods and services and may be reasonably expected to create a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by a law-abiding citizen;
(2) requires the registration or tracking of a firearm, firearm accessory, or firearm ammunition or the owners of those items that may be reasonably expected to create a chilling effect on the purchase or ownership of those items by a law-abiding citizen;
(3) prohibits the possession, ownership, use, or transfer of a firearm, firearm accessory, or firearm ammunition by a law-abiding citizen;
(4) orders the confiscation of a firearm, firearm accessory, or firearm ammunition from a law-abiding citizen.

State employees who knowingly violate the act would risk a suit for damages for helping the federal government violate a person’s right to keep and bear arms in Texas. A defense of sovereign immunity would also be prohibited in such a suit.

Kleinschmidt, starting his 4th term in January, has developed a reputation as a strong defender of the right to keep and bear arms. In the 2013 session, he worked to get a law passed that “prohibits public and private colleges and universities from adopting administrative rules banning the possession, transportation and storage of lawfully-owned firearms and ammunition in private motor vehicles by students and visitors with Concealed Handgun Licenses (CHLs).” He was also heralded by the NRA-ILA for his 2011 employee/parking lot protection bill that was signed into law that year.

“With this bill, Texas could help lead the country forward,” said Scott Landreth, campaign lead for ShallNot.org, a project of the Tenth Amendment Center. “Passage would have serious impact on the federal government’s ability to carry out its unconstitutional gun control measures already on the books.”

Recognizing that the federal government would always require cooperation on a state and local level, James Madison, writing in Federalist #46, advised state “legislative devices” and a “refusal to cooperate with officers of the Union” as a strategy to push back against unconstitutional or merely unpopular federal acts.

Last year, Judge Andrew Napolitano said that if a single state stop participating in the enforcement of federal gun laws, it would make those laws “nearly impossible” to enforce within the state.

Landreth suggested that this could create a domino effect.

“If a few other states follow Kleinschmidt’s lead, it’ll also give Washington D.C. pause before even trying to pass new restrictions on our right to keep and bear arms,” he said.

The approach is on sound legal footing, with notable Supreme Court opinions backing the view that the federal government cannot require a state to expend manpower or resources in the enforcement of a federal act. The 1997 case, Printz v. US serves as the cornerstone. In it, Justice Scalia held:

The Federal Government may neither issue directives requiring the States to address particular problems, nor command the States’ officers, or those of their political subdivisions, to administer or enforce a federal regulatory program.

As noted Georgetown Law Constitutional Scholar Randy Barnett has said, “This line of cases is now 20 years old and considered well settled.”
In 2013, similar legislation was passed in Idaho, although not as far-reaching as the bill from Kleinschmidt. Another bill was signed into law in Alaska, but lacked the specifics of which federal acts the law addressed. And another law was signed in Kansas, but is currently not being enforced due to a court challenge from the Brady Campaign over provisions that include criminal charges for federal agents.

HB176 will first be assigned to a committee, where it will need to pass before the full state house can consider it.

Even though the legislative session doesn’t officially begin for nearly 2 months, activists in support of this bill are encouraged to take the following actions:

BREAKING: Calif. Gun Dealers Move to Strike Down Law Banning Handgun Ads

November 17, 2014 (SACRAMENTO, CA) — Moving quickly to strike down a California law that bans the on-site display of handguns and handgun ads by licensed gun dealers, lawyers for four retailers suing state Attorney General Kamala Harris and Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms Chief Stephen Lindley filed a motion for preliminary injunction today in an effort to prevent it from being enforced.

The dealers say that California Penal Code section 26820—first enacted in 1923—prevents them from displaying any “handgun or imitation handgun, or [a] placard advertising the sale or other transfer thereof anywhere that can be seen outside the four corners of its store," and that the law "unconstitutionally prevents firearms dealers from advertising even the most basic commercial information—'Handguns for Sale'—at their places of business."

The sale of handguns is not only legal—it is constitutionally protected. The First Amendment protects truthful, nonmisleading commercial speech promoting lawful products or services, but especially when the products or services are themselves protected by other constitutional rights, such as the right to abortion or the right to buy contraceptives. What is true for unenumerated constitutional rights must be at least as true for the enumerated right to bear arms, which includes the right to possess and acquire handguns.

Because "[the dealers] are irreparably harmed by the enforcement of Section 26820," the brief argues, "the Court should issue a preliminary injunction that prevents Defendants from enforcing California Penal Code section 26820."

"The loss of First Amendment freedoms, for even minimal periods of time, unquestionably constitutes irreparable injury," Bradley Benbrook, the plaintiffs' Sacramento-based attorney, said in the motion. If section 26820 "is not enjoined, Defendants will continue to enforce this unconstitutional law against Plaintiffs, who will be forced to choose between sacrificing their First Amendment rights and losing their property and livelihood (forfeiting their dealer’s license for noncompliance)."

The case is supported by firearm industry association California Association of Federal Firearms Licensees as well as Second Amendment civil rights groups The Calguns Foundation and Second Amendment Foundation.

The lawsuit, captioned Tracy Rifle and Pistol LLC, et al. v. Harris, et al., will be heard before Federal Eastern District of California Judge Troy L. Nunley in Sacramento on January 29, 2015, at 2:00pm.

States Throughout the Country Are Rushing to Pass Anti-Gun Control Laws




All across the United States, legislators who believe in the sanctity of Second Amendment rights are rising up, introducing and passing state laws to thwart attempts by the federal government to impose gun control. More than 200 such bills have been introduced in the past ten years, according to an investigation by News21, which reports:

A News21 analysis shows 14 such bills were passed by legislators in 11 states, mainly in Western states, along with Kansas, Tennessee and Alaska. Of those, 11 were signed into law, though one was later struck down in court. In Montana, Missouri and Oklahoma, three others were vetoed.

Pointing to the killing of Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson along with subsequent unrest in Ferguson and policing issues, the dictator-dominated United Nations just launched another brazen assault on America, U.S. sovereignty, and the gun rights of Americans. UN boss Ban Ki-moon (shown), the global body’s “Human Rights Council,” and even the UN “Committee against Torture” all took turns lambasting the United States as an alleged stronghold of systemic racism and police brutality. To fix the problems, the UN argued, Americans and their elected officials must submit to the demands of self-styled global “authorities” — including more unconstitutional gun control to further restrict access to firearms, and UN rules for police.

The latest series of condemnations and directives offered by the controversial global outfit are merely the most recent in a developing pattern. Indeed, as The New American has documented for years, the phony outrage by the planetary body follows an accelerating spate of UN attacks on America and its constitutional system of federalism and limited government. The UN complaints, meanwhile, increasingly come with a growing list of UN demands on how local, state, and federal authorities must allegedly bow down to what globalist bureaucrats describe as “international law.”

The most recent UN meddling in U.S. affairs began shortly after the grand jury’s decision not to indict Officer Wilson for the slaying of Brown. In the immediate aftermath, UN boss Ban, perhaps misunderstanding the nature of his job as chief of an organization dominated by autocratic and oftentimes brutal regimes, offered some unsolicited advice to both protesters and law enforcement officials. Speaking through a spokesperson, Ban, who in August demanded that local police in Ferguson adhere to “international standards,” called on both demonstrators and police to be “peaceful.”

“[The Secretary-General] appeals to all those in Ferguson and throughout the United States who felt disappointment at the grand jury's decision to make their voices heard peacefully and to refrain from any violence,” UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters at a news conference, as if it were totally normal for the UN to involve itself in the affairs of an American town and dispense instructions to U.S. protesters. “He also calls on law enforcement authorities, whether at federal, state, or at the local level, to protect the rights of people to demonstrate peacefully and to express their opinions peacefully.”

According to Ban’s spokesman, the UN boss also wanted to echo the appeal made by Michael Brown’s parents to “turn this difficult time into 'positive change.' ” Ban, whose own UN “peacekeeping” forces have been exposed slaughtering and raping civilians systematically all across Africa and beyond, said his thoughts were “first and foremost” with Brown’s family and with the “entire Ferguson community.” The establishment press celebrated Ban’s involvement.

Also on November 25, the UN “Human Rights Council” — a widely ridiculed body that is literally packed with barbaric communist and Islamist regimes — also condemned the United States over alleged racism and police brutality. “I am deeply concerned at the disproportionate number of young African Americans who die in encounters with police officers, as well as the disproportionate number of African Americans in U.S. prisons and the disproportionate number of African Americans on Death Row,” complained UN “High Commissioner for Human Rights,” Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein of Jordan, in a statement released by his office.

The UN “human rights” attack on the United States came after a pathetic spectacle in which Brown’s parents travelled to Geneva to request that the UN arrest Officer Wilson and charge him with “torture” and various other “human-rights” abuses.

“We need the world to know what’s going on in Ferguson and we need justice. We need answers and we need action. And we have to bring it to the UN so they can expose it to the rest of the world, what’s going on in small town Ferguson,” said mother Lesley McSpadden during an appearance on CNN, one of the myriad establishment media outfits that continue to shamelessly hype both the false UN-as-benevolent-global-regime narrative and the Ferguson story.

The UN’s self-styled “human rights” boss also claimed in a UN press release that the Missouri grand jury’s decision not to indict Wilson “spotlighted broader concerns about institutionalized discrimination across the United States.” Ironically, he also admitted right after his claim that he had not seen the evidence presented to the grand jury that it based its decision on. That means Hussein was “unable to comment on whether or not the verdict itself conformed to international law,” the UN said in a press release.

It was not immediately clear which alleged “international law” Hussein had in mind, or why he believed the tyranny-dominated global outfit believes it can create and foist supposed “laws” on the independent people of the United States who are supposed to govern themselves. Treaties, of course, do not grant the federal government any new powers and must be made in pursuance of the Constitution to be valid. Still, even after admitting to not knowing the facts, Hussein called on the Obama administration to go beyond its constitutional powers and start essentially overseeing state and local law-enforcement issues under the guise of ensuring “fairness.”

“It is clear that, at least among some sectors of the population, there is a deep and festering lack of confidence in the fairness of the justice and law enforcement systems,” Hussein continued in his statement, which, while true, should not be a concern of a global body, ridiculed as the "dictators club," that puts genocial mass-murderers on its "human rights" body. “I urge the U.S. authorities to conduct in-depth examinations into how race-related issues are affecting law enforcement and the administration of justice, both at the federal and state levels.” Of course, under disgraced Attorney General Eric Holder — in contempt of Congress for lying about arming Mexican drug cartels — U.S. authorities have launched plenty of such “investigations.”

Hussein also commented on the tragic killing of a 12-year-old Ohio boy by police, who apparently mistook his toy gun for a real weapon and executed him within seconds, just a few days before the grand jury announced its decision in the Ferguson case. According to the UN “Human Rights” czar, sounding a lot like homegrown race profiteers who seek to exploit every tragedy to stir up racial tensions, the shooting of the boy, Tamir Rice, “reiterated racial disparity in deaths at the hands of U.S. police officers.”

Even more alarming, though, was Hussein’s effort to exploit the tragedy to push yet another UN attack on the God-given right to keep and bear arms enshrined in the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and virtually every state constitution. “In many countries, where real guns are not so easily available, police tend to view boys playing with replica guns as precisely what they are, rather than as a danger to be neutralized,” Hussein said in the statement, adding that Rice’s killing “placed the issue of gun-related deaths in the U.S. back into focus.” The UN has a long history of opposing the human right to self-defense, even helping brutal regimes to disarm the populations they hope to enslave.

Perhaps even more outrageous than a “human rights” bureaucrat’s attack on one of the most fundamental human rights, however, were references to UN “policies” for police. Citing “Article 9 of the UN's Basic Principles on the Use of Force and Firearms by Law Enforcement Officials,” the UN human rights czar “confirmed” that police must “not use firearms against persons except in self-defense or defense of others against the imminent threat of death or serious injury.”

“In any event, intentional lethal use of firearms may only be made when strictly unavoidable in order to protect life,” the bombastically titled “High Commissioner for Human Rights” concluded in his statement. Hussein’s demand of local American police — who are supposed to be responsible to local taxpayers and communities and follow American constitutional principles rather than UN decrees — follows another recent demand by UN boss Ban that local U.S. police follow what he called “international standards.”

A few days after the UN operatives sought to exploit events in Ferguson, a conveniently timed report by the UN “Committee against Torture” similarly excoriated American law enforcement for alleged police brutality. In its latest “review” of the U.S. record on “torture,” the UN blasted the administration of the death penalty, prison conditions, and allegedly systematic use of excessive force against blacks, immigrants, homosexuals, and more. The UN body also lashed out at the “frequent and recurrent police shootings or fatal pursuits of unarmed black individuals.” UN operatives on the panel called for an “independent mechanism” to investigate and punish police who defy "international law."

Globalists, race profiteers, and Big Government mongers in the United States (such as the ACLU) celebrated the UN attacks and demands, perhaps unaware of the track record of ruthlessness from both the UN and its largely totalitarian member regimes.

American communities have every right to decide how their local police should operate, within the confines of America’s system of constitutional government that is supposed to exist to protect the unalienable rights of individuals. In fact, this magazine has raised numerous concerns about everything from the over-militarization of law enforcement encouraged by the federal government to the overabundance of criminal statutes and regulations that has grown far beyond any semblance of legitimate government. The killing of Tamir Rice, too, was undoubtedly a horrifying tragedy from any perspective.

However, not only does the UN have no business or authority meddling in U.S. affairs, it would be hard to think of a body less qualified to interfere in the first place. The UN is not known as the dictators club for nothing — even its pseudo-“human rights council” features such paragons of human rights as the brutal regimes ruling Cuba, Vietnam, Communist China, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and more. Congress should immediately stop funding the UN and its attacks on America before organizing an orderly withdrawal from the autocratic outfit altogether.

Since I wrote this article titled “Disarming America’s Heroes” I have been inundated with emails and phone calls from veterans and the families of veterans. The horror stories I am hearing are proof that the VA and the Obama administration have launched an all out assault on the Constitutional rights of our nation’s wounded warriors and other veterans.

Veterans are being declared incompetent not because they have a serious mental illness that makes them a danger to themselves or others, but because they have a physical disability resulting from their service in the armed forces or because they simply let their spouses pay the family bills.

If veterans have minor issues with PTSD, have expressed that they are depressed sometimes, or even in the case of Vietnam veterans admit that they are getting older and sometimes forget to pay their bills on time, the bureaucrats at the VA will seek to declare them incompetent.
(I am a 65 year old veteran and often forget where I put my car keys, does that make me incompetent to handle my own financial affairs and even worse mean that I can’t own a firearm?) According to the VA it apparently does.

All of this has resulted in America’s heroes being declared incompetent by a process that blatantly violates their rights to due process under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution. Then, for reasons that have not been explained these same veterans are also being denied their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Many of the veterans I have heard from were initially both scared because of what was happening to them, and hurt because it is their own government that is causing this fear.

After all, when they joined the military they signed a blank check to their country to defend it and its Constitution even if it cost them their lives. Yet, now their own government is turning on them and taking from them the very Constitutional rights they fought to preserve.
