Amber Alert Issued For Missing Girl
Metro Seeks Public's Help In Finding Esther Melendez

LAS VEGAS -- Metro is seeking the public's help in locating an abducted endangered child.

An Amber Alert has been issued for Esther Melendez, 11, who was last seen at her apartment complex at 1001 N. Pecos Rd.

Esther was last seen wearing a black shirt and black skirt and is possibly riding a purple bicycle. She is a Hispanic girl who is 4 feet 3 inches tall and weighs approximately 110 pounds. She has brown eyes and long black hair.

Esther was last seen Wednesday evening.



Esther is believed to be in the company of her mother's roommate, Jose Rangel-Martinez, a 28- to 30-year-old Hispanic man described as being approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with a thin build, brown eyes and brown hair. He has a tattoo on his left inner forearm area.

Rangel-Martinez is driving a red 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier four-door car, with Nevada license plate 506-UVM.

He also uses an alternate identity of Manuel Zavala-Yepez.

He is believed to be heading north to Washington state via Oregon or Idaho, or to be heading to Mexico. He is known to Esther and is believed to be a threat to her.
