Thread: Mexico, Please Start Using NAFTA, and Other Handouts, Wisely

On January 1, 1994, a brand new, never-been-done trade agreement was entered into between the US, Canada, and Mexico. Never in history had an agreement been undertaken with countries so diverse in development. It was truly a recipe for disaster.

Opponents of the North American Free Trade Agreement argued that the plan would depress wages, destroy American jobs, limit domestic policy-making and threaten our safety in food, health, and environment.

Supporters said NAFTA would create new high-wage jobs, improve the standard of living in all three countries, and turn Mexico into the new US export market.

Basically, NAFTA lifted the barriers and tariffs on agricultural products between the three countries. At least, that was the goal. In reality, the US lost money, jobs, and experenced a demeaning quality of life as the border spilled over with Mexicans, unable to maintain basic necessities, came looking for something, anything, better.

I propose that Mexican governmental officials, those who truly care about their nation and its people, to take the billions in untold fortune sent from the US n a way that benefits everyone. Most of the US does not care if Mexico wants to be a communist country, socialist, or what have you. Most of the citizens in America want Mexico to take care of its own, however that may be best achieved.

Since the land in Mexico is gorgeous, and its phenominal history as ancient as Egypt, and perhaps even more mysterious, there could be a thriving tourist market going on, but there isn’t.

Even now, when the Mexican mafia is slaughtering hundreds of people a week, cold-bloodedly murdering police officers and Americans, there are STILL people coming to Mexico for fun and tourism. Why not use the billions of dollars the US gives as a handout to make Mexico a more attractive proposition?

The first thing that must be done is to get the drug cartels under control. Sneak up on them in the middle of the night the same way they do to the police. Arrest them, try them, incarcerate them, whatever it is Mexico chooses to do in punishment is their choice. American libtards and the UN need to butt out and let them deal.

Once that is taken care of, Mexico will need to lay infrastructure – water pipes, water treatment plants, electricity, etc – out to areas where tourists might like to stay. The Aztec ruins would be an insane place to start, but would likely be beneficial to the GDP. Other obscure places could be added on little by little, creating a system of tourist areas and the things many of us are accustomed to on a daily basis. This would also create jobs for Mexican citizens. They could work for the hotels, the water company, construction crews, airlines, as tour guides, historians, and bartenders!

A border between the US and Mexico would still be a good idea, so that Mexico can protect its interests as well as the US.

I don’t buy the line that Mexicans are not mentally capable of doing these things. All they need is a great leader with an even greater vision, and the willpower to make it happen.

Neither do I. They just don't seem to want to invest in their country. They'd rather have others give them the money, with no strings attached, to keep the coffers full for a select few.

It was the same story they gave us about the wonders of globalization....and we see how well that works.

Mexico will never be all that it can as long as groups like Aztlan control the minds of many Mexicans and teaching them to hate and destroy America. Mexican extremists like that will drag that country down every time with their radical racist and vengeful attitudes.

Not to mention, it seems not only did we have to sacrifice jobs for this agreement, have our wages lowered, there seems to a quota of poverty stricken migrants (legal and illegal) we must absorb, tolerate, educate and fund as well.

That's where the visionary leader needs to come in. Someone who can captivate the Mexican people and make them feel torn between easy handouts here or taking their pride back home. It would almost be a "contest" between the US and Mexico to build a better economy.

I know it won't happen. But a patriot can dream.
