Mexico will no longer jail illegal immigrants

21 Jul Mexico will no longer jail ILLEGALS

You’ll notice that they didn’t say they would stop raping the women, shaking down ‘migrants’, beat those who object and the multitude of other cruelties that the Mexican soldiers and police heap on them.

When did Mexico get a conscience?

Mexico will no longer jail illegal immigrants

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico will no longer jail illegal immigrants detained within its borders.

A measure that takes effect Tuesday eliminates jail times for illegal immigrants caught in Mexico. Most are crossing the country from Central America en route to the U.S.

Undocumented immigration will now be considered a minor offense, punishable by fines equal to US$500 to US$2,400. Illegal immigrants previously faced up to 10 years in prison, though most were simply deported.

Mexican legislators who backed the revision say Mexico’s previous penalties complicated efforts to lobby for better treatment of Mexican immigrants in the U.S.

Activists want more to be done to protect migrants in Mexico, where many are robbed and abused on their way north.

Even if we did that they'd still be screaming, because it says nothing about illegals who commit other crimes. Those deported now are deported for other crimes besides just being here illegally. No mention of what they do if the illegal doesn't pay the fine and what happens when they are caught more than once.....nothing about making them citizens or anything. Seems it's just clearing the path to go North to me.

They can do what they want.....it's their country. This is ours and I want my laws enforced.

If you read between the lines what it means is that the illegal migrants will still be detained but they will be released back to their home countries immediately once they have paid a fine. The money involved can be as much as that Central American laborers income for a year.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Ya it's not very clear with those pesky details. Almost feel like it's a pay to pass on your way to the US.
