7 governors sign letter backing Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster and a group of fellow governors are backing President Donald Trump's nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

McMaster and six fellow governors wrote to Norwegian Nobel Committee chairman Berit Reiss-Andersen this week, citing what they called Trump's "transformative efforts to bring peace to the Korean peninsula."

Earlier this month, 18 U.S. House Republicans formally nominated Trump, who's preparing for a historic summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un.

McMaster was an early Trump supporter in the 2016 election. Trump has backed him in next month's five-way South Carolina GOP primary.

Other signatories include Guam Gov. Eddie Baza Calvo; Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant; Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer; Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey; West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice; and Maine Gov. Paul LePage.

If Trump gets the peace treaty which I think he will, it would be nice if he won the Nobel Peace Prize, but these Euros will never give it to him. Sad, but I think they'll give it to someone else involved or to someone doing something unrelated. Hope I'm wrong, but doubt I will be.

Yes, but it is supposed to be concerning immigration and the President. This is about the Nobel Peace Prize and the President, not immigration related.

It doesn't say that. It didn't used to be. We posted all of our campaign and Trump and Cruz stuff in General Discussion. This is a new policy not the rules. If you want to change the rules, then change them on the forum so people aren't confused by what's stated on the forum itself. Just a suggestion so our forum doesn't look stupid.
