ALBANY, N.Y. — Lt. Gov. Richard Ravitch says the state must cut fraud, massive waste and duplication in the state’s Medicaid system,
which serves nearly one out of every four New Yorkers.

His plan released Monday calls for a state takeover of the health insurance program first created to serve only welfare recipients,
but which the Legislature has expanded to cover the working poor and to subsidize hospitals for caring for the uninsured. Currently,
counties pay for some of the cost.

Ravitch says the Medicaid system is not administered in the most rational or cost-effective way.

He says the state should also create new director to control costs.

After WWII at a conference of nations it was determined that Universal Healthcare was the morally right thing to do. All nations passed it with the exception of the United States. That is why you can go to Turkey and purchase an Rx as a foreigner with no insurance for $2. That same Rx here in the US will cost you $90 after your insurance as an employed citizen has paid your share. See why I think it was decided that the US citizen should pay inflated prices in order to subsidize healthcare for the rest of the planet? Furthermore, when I listen to conservatives telling US citizens to suck it up and that we are whiners and then present incomplete information telling us that we still have more dollars than anyone else on the planet I could just scream. If they think we are all that ignorant I want nothing to do with them. If they are that ignorant I still want nothing to do with them.

This is also why our government is stuck paying for healthcare for all of our illegals. They are legally bound to do the civilized thing and have reciprocity with the world who has decided that universal healthcare is the only morally acceptable thing to do. This is why citizens die and foreigners, legal or not, are treated like royalty. The world does not chastise us in the UN for killing our own. I guess they hate us that much?

I'm not up for argumentation on this. People like to doubt that what I say is true - like with illegals getting public benefits etc. I have a sibling who is dying a horrible painful death for many years because Medicare would not help her. Were she a foreigner, someone would have come to her aid and demanded that she receive the healthcare. Despite many people in her community trying to obtain help for her - nothing has happened. I think that there should be a lawsuit against somebody (like Medicare) for not treating her when she was originally hit by the truck but apparently nobody will take it or will pull that together for her? (I understand that it was the hospital that determined that she was stabilized and sent her home all crippled up so badly that one lung is permanently collapsed - that's just the starters. But the point is that the insurance companies are the tyrants and the health care providers are forced to do an exotic dance between the Hippocratic oath and the profit driven bean counters.) I guess there is no attorney with the heart and the balls to take on the federal government anymore? Or very few at any rate.
