Lake-effect snow has been pounding the North Country and Western New York, causing a state of an emergency to be declared in many counties.
So, who has the most snow from the storm?
Watertown in Jefferson County has the most, more than 31 inches of snow Monday, Tuesday and today, according to spotters working for a volunteer network.
Official totals are not in from the National Weather Service yet; they may be available later today, but then again the snow isn't expected to stop until Thursday. (Note: It is possible there is more snow in areas where no spotters are located.)
Update Wednesday afternoon: National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued its report on snowfall totals. Watertown still tops in the state for snowfall, officially reporting 32.7 inches. (Binghamton National Weather Service hasn't issued its storm totals yet.)
We collected the totals for Monday through Wendesday morning from volunteers working for the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, Snow Network, a national network with the most extensive collection of spotters in New York state. The National Weather Service uses snowfall data collected by the organization.
