President Obama announced Wednesday that he will serve 200 pounds of Gulf Coast seafood to guests at White House parties this holiday season, symbolic of his support for gulf coast fishermen. It is unlikely, however, that 200 pounds of seafood will make Gulf Coast citizens forget that just two days earlier, the Obama administration reimposed an embargo on US oil against America by reinstating the offshore moratorium. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1210/45803.html

Obviously, no one wants our coasts dirtied—least of all those who live along it, but the president’s ban demonstrates his indifference to local decision makers who are far more capable of deciding what should be done with their coastline.

Furthermore, Obama’s 200 pounds of fish makes a joke of the idea that there is an environmental justification for the Gulf Coast drilling ban. If the point of feeding White House guests Gulf Coast seafood is to demonstrate that the Gulf Coast’s wildlife is environmentally safe, then the ban has just lost any justification.

Hopefully, the logical gymnastics the president must do to explain these two incompatible positions will help him work off the Gulf’s delicious seafood.

Exactly. Please demand a lift all federal bans of US offshore drilling and permit all viable American owned and operated oil and gas projects, subject to enforcement of all environmental laws, with no waivers of any kind without a public hearing in the local community.

We must use our own energy resources to support our own economy and fuel and transportation requirements both for individuals and industry, because we must end our dependence on foreign oil and foreign oil companies that sucks $400 billion a year of our precious money supply, investments, technology, assets and jobs out of our country every single year.

End the madness and Drill Baby Drill.

Well I am from a family of oystermen in La. State and on this issue, I am with President Bush, because at least Bush knew what he was doing. What you fail to understand is that Obama only went back to Bush standards but Obama only allows foreign oil companies to drill like British Petro. Now, instead of Chevron oil in La. State, my mom looks out her back yard and Obama along with the Congress sat back as B.P. sold the land to Japan! So, Americans are far from being up to date on this issue. Be careful what you wish when you wish for oil companies.
Keep in mind the largest lobbiers for illegal aliens into the South, including Texas & La. is Halliburton the energy and oil contracting company.
Right now, there is no benefits to allowing oil drilling when NO ONE in our government has the I.Q. to stop a complete take over of the South by China or Japan.

China will be drilling off of Florida along with Russia if you "drill baby drill" people have your way because Sarah palin is a bimbo and oil companies have been around since 1910, and 100 years ago my great great grandparents from Italy fought with the ones from texas and now we are fighting with the ones from Japan and Great Britain
