Obama's despicable betrayal of our troops

Barack Obama, like the Democratic Party he represents, has been dead wrong on the war against radical Islam. Obama said he opposed liberating Iraq, but that was easy for him to say because he didn't have to vote on the issue.

He opposed Gen. David Petraeus' surge, which has reduced violence and given the people of Iraq freedom to go to parks, open shops, attend schools and walk down the streets. My group, Move America Forward – the largest pro-troop organization in the country – went to Iraq last Christmas and saw with our own eyes the great changes that Petraeus' brilliant strategy brought to Iraq.

But Obama has stubbornly refused to give full credit to Petraeus, the Bush administration and our troops for a job well done.

It is clear that Obama, from the beginning of his presidential campaign, has used American troops and their mission as a political tool. This week, we learned that Obama is a cold-hearted, manipulative politician who is dangerous to our country.

The New York Post's Amir Taheri reported that Iraq Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said Obama wanted to delay the return of American troops to America until after the election. Obama met with Zebari during a July campaign stop in Iraq.

"Obama has given Iraqis the impression that he doesn't want Iraq to appear anything like a success, let alone a victory for America," Taheri reported.

Imagine that.

Obama, the man who literally tells a crowd in San Francisco one thing and a crowd in Idaho another, has more than two faces. He has also told the public he wants a troop pullout now, but tells Iraqi officials something else.

Move America Forward's PAC, MafFreedompac.com, produced a commercial outlining Obama's deceit, which can be seen online.

Some want to pooh-pooh the facts of the Post article. But the American Spectator reported that the Obama campaign has some problems with deniability because "there were at least three other people in the room with Obama and Zebari to confirm the conversation."

In other words, the other shoe has yet to drop.

The question of Obama's credibility when it comes to his positions on Iraq and other foreign policy issues is black and white: He has no credibility.

Investor's Business Daily wrote an editorial Tuesday entitled "Obama's Double-Dealing Diplomacy" focusing on Obama's dangerous and sophomoric policy positions.

"Can Obama be trusted? We ask because he's shown a pattern of secretive double-dealing with voters, not just in his talking about small town voters one way in Scranton and another way in San Francisco, as Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin pointed out, but particularly in foreign affairs," the editorial said.

"It dates back to at least February, when Obama's economic adviser, Austan Goolsbee, secretly told the Canadian embassy that Obama's demagoguery against NAFTA in the primaries was just a Styrofoam-pillar bid to win the Ohio vote," the editorial continued.

The editorial lays out a devastating synopsis of Obama's dubious and multiple positions, and demands that Obama come clean on his beliefs.

The problem is that I don't think he has rock-ribbed beliefs, except that he is the Messiah and that he must be president because he is "the one." Oh, he also believes that babies born to mothers during an abortion should not have medical care, so chalk that up to Obama's humanity.

The bottom line is that Obama has stabbed our troops in the back and, by doing so, he has stabbed America in her back. His most despicable action thus far is his willingness to keep our troops in Iraq solely to serve his political ambitions.

He is unfit to become commander in chief of our troops.
