Furthermore, as an abandoned wife myself, whose divorced mother went back to college and was courted by foreign men when I was still a baby, it seems obvious to me what happened here.

Obama Sr. had a choice of two scholarships. One, to a great school, would have enabled him to take his wife and son along. The other, to an even greater school, would only cover him. He chose the latter, effectively abandoning his wife and son. He was a man of the third world where she would have been expected to understand and submit. She was an American, who took legal action to make herself whole as best she could.

PS - you don't get a divorce if you were never married.
