oldguy, I am not a true believer, but I am also happy that there is an upcoming end to the last nearly 8 years of this current administration.
I am willing to give Obama a chance, until he does something that will work against this country (as the GWB gang has done) before I start screaming against this administration, that is not even in the Oval Office.
When "what ifs" turn into "he will" it begins to sound a little ridiculous.

Quote(I think the single biggest, decisive score of votes went to Obama from struggling whites and blacks in the upper Midwest who are tired of the Republicans not offering solutions. They have all of the infrastructure there for an incredibly productive industry---)quote

What won the election was uninformed public, bias media and money.

We must return to a manufacturing base in order to return our middle class to some degree as to what it once was. The past 30 years have been one of greed and worshiping at the feet of free trade, while trade is good it cannot be so unequal so we continue to build China & other countries up while tearing down our society.

I truly do not see any current leaders willing to take the necessary steps to do what is correct, socialism for sure will only cripple us, Obama appears to be hiring the same old left wing partisan people in charge for the past 30 years. Many people voted for Obama simply because they believe he will provide free stuff simply as that, no folks it will not change that much and in truth may get worse. The American public will need to hit bottom before they understand.
I'm old with many opinions few solutions.

    "Payback":
    1. 1/2 million white American died to free blacks from slavery.
    2. White Americans made black Americans full US Citizens and give them full voting rights.
    3. White Americans passed laws to prevent job, school, voting, and housing discrimination against non-whites.
    4. The "Great Society" was enacted to increase minority American's standard of living.
    5. Affirmative Action was passed to make up for past job discrimination against minority Americans.
    6. The government pressured lenders to give housing loans to low income (mainly minority) Americans, precipitating a trillions of dollars financial crisis.

    Did I leave anything out?

How many of the above did black Africans do for their black and white slaves over the centuries?

Also, the reason black Americans still on average earn less than white Americans is black American's IQ is 15% lower on average. That is what needs to be corrected, and money or freebies will not do it. To be honest, except for intermarriage or a miracle from God I don't know how their IQ can be raised.

Well, at least we agree on the manufacturing. I did vote for McCain/Palin---but I could see them losing a lot of blue collar families that have conservative values because they weren't advocating enough on the bread-and-butter issues. Now Obama may never follow through on his promises---in which case if the Reps. get their act together could be fertile ground. As far as returning to manufacturing---Yes and No. Yes if the manufacturing is something that can't be done elsewhere, such as very high quality industrial products. No, if you mean standard low quality consumer items--such as you get at K-Mart. Why compete in the same arena with China, Latin America and Asia?

I don't think he's going to be able to do even HALF of what he promised. He's just another jive talkin, trash talkin politician.

Yes, we're talking an American version of the black shirted fascists of Italy or brown shirted SA of nazi Germany.
The government will actually train and equipment hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Americans, mainly the young, [quote:ufyzvlve]to spy on their fellow Americans, and possibly even arrest or fine them
for using the wrong kind of lightbulb, for using too much water during the summer, for buying a gas guzzler car, for having too many children, for eating too much, for daring to criticize the government, so on and so forth.
    [/quote:ufyzvlve]
When some "future-seeing" writer with a bias goes that far overboard, I tend to laugh. "What if" is great preparation for dealing with what may be coming down the pike (buy insurance, get a barbecue for when the power goes out, stock up on batteries, grow a garden) but these theories presented are a tad beyond anything than pure hatred of Obama.

. . . but you can "see the future" and know the person who wrote the article is wrong. How do you know what such an organization would do? Such things have never been done before by radicals? It could never happen here, right?

I agree the statements in the article are extreme, but I think the author was trying to make a point about a really frightening idea put forward by a radical leftist who is now going to be POTUS. You're right that we should give him a chance to show his true colors, but if he tries to push one of these nutjob ideas, we should oppose it as much as we possibly can.

I can tell you one thing though, I will sure as heck be opposed to an "Obama Youth," or a "Civilian National Security Force" and I can't believe any American wouldn't be!!

PB: no I am not omniscient, and don't purport to be. There are too many immediate problems for American people to worry about without ranting and rhetoric by writers and "pundits" doing the old what-if line.
What if GWB and Cheney were actually Klingons that came from the planet Krypton where they once were taken over by the Evil Empire and mind-meld with the Borg?

In that case, it would explain quite a bit.
