OBSERVATIONS FROM GOP CONVENTION & RON PAUL LIBERTY EVENT

    PART 1 of 3

    Day One: September 1, 2008

Traffic in and out of St. Paul was a night mare to put it mildly. Never have I seen so many cops decked out in full battle gear with "big, bad attitude" rounding out their presence. After finding a parking garage not too far from the Xcel Energy Center, I proceeded to walk around to get the feel of the area. Rice Park, in close proximity to the Xcel Center, seemed to draw the most people on a consistent basis throughout the four days. MSNBC had their tent set up for live broadcasting. From there it was three blocks to the area where demonstrators would be allowed to exercise their First Amendment right "of the people peaceably to assemble."

This pdf file contains lots of pictures; sequence begins with the "Anarchists" and then on to the big herd. As I was waiting for the "Anarchists," I watched the groups of police. It was very hot and humid that day; their uniforms and gear must have weighed 50 pounds. One thing I observed was most of these police units were young men, only the "commanders" appeared to be over 40. Without exception, all of them were stone faced. No smiles. They refused to answer even a question about directions. Dead eyes, just like Comrade Barack Hussein Obama, aka Barry Soetoro, aka Barry Obama, aka Barack Dunham, and aka Barry Dunham. A few of the cops giving traffic assistance over near Rice Park did respond and every one of them were imported; Texas, Ohio, Illinois and other states.

Yes, one can understand, based on past behavior, that some of these protester groups were there to deliberately cause trouble, but it was the 'deadness' of the cops that bothered me. Almost zombie like, no courtesy was extended to anyone. All were considered domestic terrorists. They stood there holding massive fire power (rifles) and if you tried to turn the street on the sidewalk to get away from the protesters, this big, 6'5" hulk with that black rifle looked you in the eye, said get back and he meant it. I'm sure at 5'3" and 115 pounds I represented a huge threat to him. I know how local law enforcement have been trained since OKC. The indoctrination propaganda (guerilla mentality) courtesy of the big rip off organization known as the Southern "Poverty" Law Center and the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) who spy on Americans. Local law enforcement across this country are being paramilitarized and it's a damn dangerous direction that must stop.

Just before these idiots who bill themselves as "the Anarchists" arrived, all the hyped up, battle ready police began an intimidation exercise. They formed lines, took out their batons and snapped them this way and that. I guess to limber up for heads to crack. What appeared to be the big chief directed "Delta Company" to "get ready." Very military like formations. You could hear the Anarchists long before they got to the block where I was standing. When they finally did go by, their music was so loud and obnoxious, it would blow your ear drums off. Lots of the F word, lots of yelling, mostly profanity, scarves over their faces. Most looked like they needed a good meal. These foolish individuals - no doubt some of them on the FBI's payroll - were there to cause trouble, not assemble peacefully. They reminded me of a bunch of snotty, spoiled teens just itching to see how far they could break the rules before getting grounded.

Once that bunch did their thing and disappeared around the corner, the cops went into stand down mode. I know there were riots and a lot of arrests, but I was not in the area at that time. Who needs the misery? As I waited for the next bunch to make their way from the Capitol area, I walked down the block and spotted a couple of civilians standing with cops. I walked up to them and asked the one man if he worked for Blackwater who are little better than paid mercenaries running amok. This man was tall, wearing Docker type pants and a golf shirt with the logo, Defense Technology. He looked me in the eye and again that day, I looked into dead eyes. He refused to answer, so I told him that was fine, I'd look up his company on the Internet. Defense Technology ("We go in first.") is a company that provides chemicals to spray on protesters, gas masks (you'll see them in the photos I took) and "specialty impact" crowd control weapons. Stoneface was obviously there as a field man to see how his company's products worked.

The next load of protesters came up the street --- about eight thousand five hundred of them. Wave after wave of, well, mostly end the war folks mixed with loons. It appeared that the City of St. Paul simply forced all the groups with permits to march at the same time. One group carried signs (see the pictures) to end the war because Somali's need food. Oh, good. Another large group were illegals with what appeared to be lawyers marching and shouting with them. Their very large banner was "Equality for all workers!" (Translated: those who sneak across the border and steal jobs that rightfully and legally belong to Americans) and at the bottom it read: Welfarerights.org. If you go over to that site, you'll see they link to the Communist Party's web site as well as their sister organizations, Progressive Democrats of America and United for Peace and Social Justice.

Another group walked along shouting and chanting "This is what democracy looks like," declaring to the world they're too stupid to know our legal form of government. This ignorant bunch carried signs sponsored by Socialists of America. About 1,000 bodies later came a serious looking group carrying a huge banner: Military families against the war. The entire theme was to get America out of the war in Iraq with lots of other issues sandwiched in between: "we" demand health care, free Palestine and so forth. I know that in their hearts, thousands of these protesters sincerely want America out of these unconstitutional, immoral invasions and occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. So do I. But, it appeared that many of these protesters really have no clue about the U.S. Constitution and what they were chanting about. The cops were spread out in full array, but didn't seem much disturbed by this massive train of protesters as they were with the Anarchists. One copper rode by on his bike slowly and said to his fellow officer, "Hey, what can we do? They have a permit." They both started laughing.

Since I was wearing a media tag around my neck, people were more than willing to give me their opinion and I'm very good at listening. One couple, a man in his early 60s with the big stomach and a woman who let herself run to fat, were holding a sign in support of Juan McCain. I asked the man if I could ask him a question, but if he didn't want to answer, that would be okay. He replied go ahead. I asked him if he voted for McCain in the primary; his response was no. I then asked him why would he support McCain now if he didn't want him as president when he voted for another candidate in his primary? "Because he's the party's choice and a good one." This man is part of the voices of America's destruction.

Blind loyalty to a political party. I titled my booklet on vote fraud, Blind Loyalty, back in 1996 and this cancer has only spread over the past 12 years. This fellow got the feeling that I didn't not support McCain and came straight out and asked me. I replied that when I am working as a journalist, I do not offer up my personal opinions, I'm here to gather yours and from other Americans. He didn't like that and his attitude was saturated in the crowds: If you didn't support McCain, go to Hell. Anger, boiling, waiting. You could feel it in the air.

The stars were also out and about. While waiting for the second group of protesters, actor John Voight walked by and I exchanged a hello with him. A bit later, I let Jon Stewart get close enough walking by to say a hello to him; I've never watched his show, but I understand he has a large following. I walked by just about every anchor on cable networks. Big whoop. Bill Hemmer, part of the stable of fact challenged anchors on FAUX News surprised me by being very short - just slightly taller than me. I said hello to him, but he just looked at me and my friend (an alternate delegate), kind of snorted and continued on his way. Guess I didn't have the right pedigree. I wanted to ask him why FAUX refuses to cover Obama's communist roots and McCain's sell out of our POW/MIAs, but it would have been a waste of time.

Just one big party and social extravaganza at a cost of $100 MILLION dollars slapped on the backs of the American people for security. Congress allocated $100 MILLION dollars that doesn't exist and has to be borrowed to protect these private parties (DNC and RNC conventions). The treasury is overdrawn $9.6 TRILLION dollars, yet these irresponsible maniacs in Congress -BOTH parties - once again steal the fruits of your labor to fund events held by private organizations. Let the RNC and DNC foot the bill for their parties. How would you like it if I decided to put on a big shindig at the Houston Astrodome and you were forced to pay for security for my event? Same thing. It doesn't matter if those two events had lots of big shots and members of Congress, Americans should not be forced to pay expenses for these conventions. Both Obama and McCain have MILLIONS on their coffers as do the RNC and DNC. Let them pay for security, not the families out in America struggling to put food on the table, provide clothing, shelter and things like dental work for their children.

I mingled for hours and it was disheartening to listen to all of these potential voters express their opinions about health care when they know nothing about the restrictions placed upon Congress regarding such legislation and that Congress ruined the finest health care system in the world. People have no idea the difference between a democracy and a constitutional republic. They know nothing about our monetary system, but believe mother government is there to bail out their bacon when they default on their mortgage. I did what I could, handing out my card and asking some well meaning and concerned folks to go to my site and read my columns on these various issues. The Federal Department of Education's goal to dumb down America has been a resounding success.

There were a lot of Ron Paul supporters both at the protest site and nearer to the Xcel Center. I suppose the protesters felt they got their day, but the routes they were forced to take took them so far away from the convention site, only delegates who wanted to see them were exposed to their chanting and signs. Those delegates who stayed in St. Paul would approach the Xcel Center straight up the street to Rice Park and into the secure zone. I took the shuttle from my hotel and it drops you on the "back side" away from all the action; it's really the main entrance for other events.

When I finished up, it was time to head back to my hotel, about 15 miles south of the city and away from the madding crowd before my next appointments. Well, that was beyond a challenge since the police had all the streets blocked off and sent you literally in circles for an hour. Keystone is a word that comes to mind.

Later I went to meet with one of the Texas delegates, picked up an alternate Washington State delegate and headed to the Target Center in Minneapolis, site of the Ron Paul Liberty event to be held the next day. There I met up with Jeff Lowrance, publisher of the USA Tomorrow. And, was I blown away! Jeff and his volunteers were completing putting a copy of the special convention edition of USA Tomorrow along with the first issue on every seat in the Target Center! Ten thousand of them. The set up was well underway getting ready for Tuesday and it was really wonderful to stand there and watch the preparations and feel the excitement.

By the time I finished up for the day and got back to my hotel - it was lights out!

OBSERVATIONS FROM GOP CONVENTION & RON PAUL LIBERTY EVENT

    PART 2 of 3

    Day Two: September 2, 2008

This was a special day. I did not attend the GOP convention, I went to the Ron Paul Liberty event held at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis. Unlike the zoo over in St. Paul, parking was a snap even with thousands of cars all arriving at virtually the same time. I was grateful that upon arriving, I could proceed straight to the media center downstairs instead of having to stand in the long lines to get in; Ron Paul's folks were kind enough to put me on the list ahead of time. The preparations were a great success and that arena was something to see.

The Rally for the Republic was truly an amazing event. How the poltroons who were running the GOP Convention must have been steaming (and worried) over the huge turn out: 10,000 strong. There were a small number of GOP delegates who were not Ron Paul supporters who did attend and perhaps their eyes were opened by what they saw and heard. While the Republicans chanted a new slogan at their convention, "country above party," which we know is a farce coming from either of the two "main" parties, it is a very real concept for those of us who attended Ron Paul's event. You have to plant the seeds for the oak tree to grow, so let us hope those delegates who attended received a lot of food for thought and will talk it over with their GOP friends and delegates.

The Skyway level and the next floor up offered booths for folks to visit. USA Tomorrow and Commonsenserevisited.org were just two among many. I might also add that the morning after my arrival at my hotel, I opened the door to see a green canvas bag hanging on the door. These gift bags were provided by the hotel for delegates and media. Lots of goodies, but one thing that surprised me: A beautiful leather pocket size 'Guide to the Constitution of the United States'! I was impressed. A hotel actually giving copies of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights to guests.

I want to tell you that the Rally for The Republic was as different from the GOP horse and pony show as light vs dark. Truth vs propaganda. Speakers included Barry Goldwater, Jr., Jesse Ventura, Bruce Fein, Lew Rockwell and others. Of course, the grand finale was Ron Paul, the greatest statesman of my time. Unlike some, I don't idolize or worship Ron Paul. I have a few areas of disagreement with him, but I have the greatest and deepest respect for that man. I've never met him, although I would like to some day. Ron Paul never wavers or flip flops in his beliefs or as a member of the U.S. Congress. When it comes to constitutional government, he stays the course.

C-SPAN/2 covered the event from start to finish. As Ron Paul said in a statement, September 8, 2008:

    Dear friends,

What a thrilling week we've just had - three days of wonderful events, culminating in the great Rally for the Republic on September 2, which C-SPAN2 covered in its entirety. Americans got to hear more truth in our one day in Minneapolis than in decades' worth of standard political conventions.

I hope you were as impressed with the speakers and the performances as I was. The day reaffirmed for me that the movement on behalf of our philosophy is blessed with brains, talent, and verve.

If you missed it, we'll be making the whole thing available soon. In the meantime, you can watch whatever speakers you'd like to see right here.

Now it's time to turn to the hard work of the Campaign for Liberty. We have our work cut out for us. Our economic woes are being foolishly blamed on the free market. The federal government is taking over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, as those of us with any sense feared it would. We face the looming prospect of still more wars: with Iran, Russia, and now Pakistan.

We need to inject some sanity into these debates.

Right now, though, I wish simply to thank you for all your sacrifices and hard work. Just when I think I cannot be any more amazed by your commitment to our ideas, you go and surprise me again. I deeply appreciate your devotion to our cause.

Remember one of the most important things our presidential campaign proved: there are millions of us out there. If 1.2 million Americans voted for our ideas in a Republican primary, think of how many more there must be.

We are not alone. We know that now. And when it comes to energy, creativity, and enthusiasm, our side wins hands down. I know these will be our secret weapons as we keep up the fight in these dark times to restore our republic, and to see peace and prosperity transformed from a campaign slogan into a way of life.

Please, recruit one more person to the Campaign for Liberty today.

    With my deepest gratitude,

If you weren't able to attend, I highly recommend you book mark this link and spend some time this weekend watching the event on videos. I guarantee you will be amazed and delighted with what went on and the plans for America. I wasn't able to stay for Ron Paul's speech as I needed to get back to my hotel to do Jeff Rense's radio show, but I have watched his speech here; about 14 minutes into the video.

If Americans would compare what was said at that event and what they were served up at the GOP and DNC conventions, they would get nourishment for their soul and real hope for the future. But, as Ron Paul points out above, we have our work cut out for us. We cannot stop what's coming, we can only mitigate the destruction with sanity, reason and organization.

I would also like to take this time to thank those who donated to make my trip possible and to stay three of the four days. It goes without saying that donations are a financial sacrifice for many. I am very appreciative to those Americans who made a donation to support my work in bringing you a first hand account of both events last week. For part three click below.

OBSERVATIONS FROM GOP CONVENTION & RON PAUL LIBERTY EVENT

    PART 3 of 3

    Day three: September 3, 2008

For those who don't know, what the American people see during prime time at night is nothing more than a well orchestrated Hollywood production of unity and rah, rah. During the day, delegates attended all kinds of luncheons and meetings where, unless they were die hard McCain supporters, were subjected to strong arming and intimidation. No dissent would be allowed for the Democrats to see on nationwide television. There was quite a bit of talk that the Ron Paul delegates were vowing to fight at the convention and would not back down. To my knowledge, it didn't happen. The henchmen at the convention made sure the American people saw only the voices of America's destruction as the vote was taken.

As I got off the shuttle to enter the Xcel Center for the evening festivities, I groaned at the long line of delegates to get through security. A wire fence encircled the entire building and if you didn't have credentials around your neck (either press, delegate or VIP) which scanned, you did not get in the building. Purses, briefcases, all searched and walk thru like at the airport. The whole shebang. By that time I was ready to find something to eat for dinner and since I don't eat junk food, I found a guard who told me there were several real restaurants. Off I went, only to be rejected at all of them. I didn't have the VIP badge attached to my pass, so as part of the great, unwashed masses, I was directed to the hot dog stands.

I promptly left the building and took the long walk out of the secure area, through Rice Park to the St. Paul Hotel across the street. The grill was mobbed with delegates; I found a table in the bar with a tall chair so I could observe while I ate decent food. A lot of booze was the order of the day; women knocking down martini's and men guzzling down the whiskey. I guess they had to fortify themselves before the hoopla began. Back over to the center and met up with my friend, Dr. Robert Neff, a credentialed guest from Washington State. We took the elevator up to the second level where we had a perfect bird's eye view of the floor and stage. Only VIPs and delegates are allowed on the floor. Despite the loftiness of our seats (not the regular ones that would give you a nose bleed, but actually on the second floor itself), the huge screens brought you everything in great detail.

The speakers were nauseating if you know their real stories and agendas. Cindy McCain deserves a lot of credit for all the work she's done around the world, but as a voter, I wasn't interested in her life story. MAJOR gag reflex as Rudy Julie Annie came out. You know, the cross dressing, serial adulterer, liar, cheat, pro sexual deviant, pro abortion candidate who was soundly rejected during the pretend primaries? That audience went nuts in their joy to see him speak. Conservative republicans? How can these people attach that label to themselves when they cheer on a morally bankrupt gangster like Rudy Julie?

Liberman, the dottering old fool, was a big winner the night before. As McCain has stated he will appoint Democrats to his cabinet, I'm certain old Joe will be be placed somewhere. Another pro abortion advocate and supporter of sodomites, Liberman was excommunicated by a prominent rabbi; see here. But, he was cheered on by the lemmings as was another pro abortion, pro sodomite prominant former Governor, Tom Ridge. This is why I left the Republican Party in 1996: because their agenda was no longer pro-America or conservative. In all fairness, I need to mention that there were many delegates who do not support McCain, but by law were forced to cast their vote for him. I know it must have been a difficult time for these Americans who recognize how dangerous McCain is to this republic.

The rest of the speakers were just as putrid with their toxic message which has no reality attached to the carefully constructed speeches they all read off the teleprompter. I know because I watched them reading while trying to look at the camera. It's difficult to watch so many supposedly intelligent people who claim they love this country make fools of themselves and buy such blatant propaganda.

Ron Paul delegates were shut out. These delegates were actually followed all over the convention by security personnel. They were physically accosted by security dragoons and all their Ron Paul materials confiscated. The following is from an alternate delegate I was sitting with and who was being fed a blow by blow account of what was happening on the floor. The delegates from Nevada were physically prevented from contacting their delegation chair to formally inform them of their vote and get to the mic. During the vote, delegates for McCain were declared loudly, while Ron Paul delegates were ignored. In some cases, smaller delegations like Oklahoma and Washington, Ron Paul votes were deliberately whispered into the mic so the lady on the stage didn't hear and didn't record them. Some of the state chairs on the floor lied, outright lied about votes. In the end, my friend said the best way to describe what went on was organized crime.

It is difficult to get the final numbers because of the cheating and threats to switch votes that went on. The alleged final count was 2 delegates for Flip Romney, five for Ron Paul and the rest to Juan McCain. However, there appears to be about 200 missing votes. My source says according to an individual who sits on the RNC Committee for Arrangement, his count came up with about 210 delegates for Ron Paul and the Campaign for Liberty came up with 215 delegates. If only five votes were cast by delegates for Ron Paul on the floor, where are the rest of them? Delegates are looking into this; I'm sure I'll have more hard data soon.

Sadly, the zealots at the convention who support a despicable individual like McCain could care less. Their blind loyalty to the Republican Party, just like tens of millions in the Democratic Party, is first and foremost. These delegates want to stay in the good graces of the powers that be and stay important in their petty little world of politics. "Country first" is just another slogan that sounds good on TV. How many of them care that a member of the U.S. House of Representatives was treated with such disrespect by his own party? Congressman Ron Paul received (at least what we can count due to massive vote fraud) 1.2 million votes during the pretend primaries, but he was not welcome at the convention. He wasn't welcome because as he said during an interview on the Colbert Report:

“But just because you weren't welcome, that's no reason not to speak,â€
