    THE OFFICIAL OLYMPIC THREAD

All right, folks the Olympics are almost upon us!!

Let's use this thread to show our support for the athletes representing our country

I will be most interested in basketball (been a huge fan my whole life). They have won all of their exhibition games handily. Also looking forward to baseball. A little volleyball, water polo, track, swimming too. And maybe women's gymnastics (the only sport where we will rival China head-to-head).

    Let's get behind our athletes!!!

    USA.........USA..........USA!!!!

I AM NOT AS HAPPY OVER THE GAMES THIS YEAR; I WONDER WHY?

CHINA OF ALL PLACES; ATTACKS HAVE ALREADY STARTED; AND THE FAA HAS BEEN IN CHINA FOR 30 YEARS, NOW. WHY HAS THE FAA BEEN THERE AND NOT IMPROVING OUR SYSTEM? THIS WAS ON C-SPAN, TODAY.

BOY, AMERICAN TAXPAYERS' MONEY IS SPENT EVERYWHERE; WHEN DO THE AMERICANS GET ANY BENEFITS?

I HOPE I CAN GAIN SOME SPIRIT FOR THE AMERICAN ATHLETES

Yeah, I am not really pleased with China getting the games either. Maybe some good will come of it. Perhaps some light will be shown on the people demanding more human rights like Bhuddists etc.

But in the end, I am glad we are there. Let's whoop China's ass. I know the CCP is really making an effort to get the most golds and have their moment in the sun, similar to what the USSR used to do at the games. Let's show them how its done, and dominate on their home soil!! Maybe we will play Mexico in soccer as well (I forgot to mention that sport in my initial post).

MY HUMBLE OPINION: THIS OLIMPIAD IS A TRAVESTY.
AT THIS MOMENT ALL AMERICANS SHOULD BE WORRIED WITH THE FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY. I COLDN'T CARE LESS FOR THIS SHOW OFF .
THE DANGER IS AT OUR DOORS WITH ALL ITS STRENGH AND ALL ITS TOOLS (ECNOMIC,PERSONAL AND SOCIAL)
THE GOVERMENT IS ALL DEDICATED TO ERADICATE OUR RIGHTS,SOVEREINTY, ETC...
MY OPINION IS : THE AMERICANATHLETS SHOULD BOYCOT IT.
WHAT GOOD DOES ? HONOR TO THIS GOVRMENT ?
UNTIL WE HAVE "THE PEOPLES GOVERMENT" THIS GOVERMENT DO NOT REPRESENT AMERICA OR AMERICANS .

I don't think that the athletes are representing the US government any more than the stars and stripes represents the US government. They are regular Americans (most of them). Most are not millionares. Most are amatures. Most are not being paid to be there. They are doing it for love of the games. They are doing it for love of country. There are very few things left in our world that are pure, without greed comprimising them. The Olympics are one of the last vestiges of pure competition. Its not about people being paid to play somewhere -- like our professional sports. They are ALL Americans representing us, almost exclusively without pay. No free agents. No outsourcing to other nations. Pure Americans competing against the rest of the world's best.

So when our athletes are rewarded for their hard work, beat their international competition, the gold is being put around their neck, and the national anthem is playing, you would not want to discuss that?
