Thread: Actress Jolie Joins Elite Group (CFR)

Angelina Jolie has been elected a member of an exclusive American foreign policy think tank.

The actress will join US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, former secretary Henry Kissinger, and top economist Alan Greenspan in the ranks of the influential Council of Foreign Relations.

The New York Post said the Manhattan-based group's membership accepted Jolie's nomination on Friday night.

The CFR demands no academic credentials from the select few it lets in but does look for people who take part in world affairs.

Jolie, 31, has made dozens of trips around the world to campaign for refugees, Aids orphans and disaster victims as an UN goodwill ambassador.

Current member Dr Gordon Adams, an international affairs professor, was all in favour of the unusually glamorous new member.

"Bring her on," he told the Post, "The idea of having Henry Kissinger and Angelina Jolie in the same organisation is dazzling."

Carol Adelman, a former head of US foreign aid programmes, added: "It's not like Paris Hilton is being nominated."

Well, I am sure we know just where she stands on the issue of illegal immigration don't we?

if this is a think tank who is going to teach her to think? does the world really care what one of hollywoods biggest whack jobs has to say?

That's great. Maybe when she explains how she self mutilates and wears blood in a vile around her neck, maybe she can adopt a few more kids and tell us how to live our lives.

The CFR has to expand their tentacles over Hollywood too, politcs, media, now movie stars...

I'm really tired of those who want us to achieve third world status!!!

Can't they just take themselves and families to a third world country and feel like they are doing good works everyday passing out pennies and leave us the hell alone!!!

I do enjoy a good movie but I equate acting with impersonation and impersonation with pretense. In Hollywoodland it comes for some with a really big paycheck. Can't complain though, I've already admitted I'm a contributor. Not that she is in one of those good movies but I'll be interested in her unscripted performance.

I just wonder if she wasn’t an actor, not “earning” those enormous paychecks but living here in this “reality” of foreigners entering our country illegally, would she be just as concerned about American children living in poverty or the ones waiting, wanting desperately to be adopted?

If you adopt an American child you don't get so much attention from the media.
So... this is a matter of GOOD PUBLICITY.
Or they want to make believe here in America we don't have children in need....

If Angelina Jolie looked like Rosie O'Donnel, this nomination would have never taken place. Our politics are so shallow and degrading. Here is a complete nutjob that was allowed to jump the line and buy a couple of kids even though she cannot make good choices in her own life. Suddenly, she is Mother Theresa?????? She supposedly made some statement about her biological daughter lately that she is having a difficult time bonding with her. Why is she sacrificing her family life to go on a self promotion tour..er, uh...good will mission? Someone please stop the insanity!
