PayPal Hiring 1,600 People in Arizona

CHANDLER - Jobs have been hard to come by over the last couple of years, but economists predict slow but steady job growth this year.

PayPal's Chandler location is adding more than a thousand jobs. They have 400 employed so far, and PayPal hopes to have 2,000 working by the end of the year.

PayPal, an eBay company, calls itself the world's safest way to pay and be paid on the internet and through mobile devices.

The state-of-the-art facility opened last November.

"We have customer service and operations-type roles, who do things all the way from answering phone calls to risk detection, collections, underwriting, technical support -- we have a little bit of everything here," says Chris Jensen.

"I would hope the growth of the payments market is a sign people are spending money, so the outlook is better than it was in years past.
