Green energy and EV taxpayer-funded handouts from SOAR Critical Industry Program promised thousands of jobs that never transpired
Three years after lawmakers created the Strategic Outreach Attraction Reserve Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said would “create tens of thousands of good paying jobs,” not a single one has materialized.
Michigan taxpayers have shelled out more than $670 million to five multibillion companies to prop up the electric vehicle and renewable energy industries in Michigan with a promise to create a total of 8,812 jobs, but a report from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation that oversees the spending shows zero “actual qualified jobs created.”
“The program was poorly designed from the start,” said James Hohman, director of fiscal policy at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy. “It allows companies to cash in on taxpayer subsidies without having to create jobs. Lawmakers must wait years to ask for taxpayer money back if deals fail to deliver. It’s good that House lawmakers are working to redirect this money to roads.”

Some of the companies have been around for a while (did GM really need this money?), some, like Our Next Energy, are start ups and have done nothing. This is all a scam.

Not only have the jobs failed to materialize, companies awarded taxpayer funds have backed out of their commitments, or laid off employees.
Earlier this month, Our Next Energy cut two dozen Michigan jobs in a second round of layoffs since receiving its $200 million payout. The company also laid off 128 workers in November to focus on “core priorities,” according to The Detroit News.

The tally of names read like President Trump’s enemies list, from Letitia James to Liz Cheney.

Late Friday night, he issued a memo rescinding security clearances and access to classified information for a slew of erstwhile opponents including Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, Joseph R. Biden Jr. and “any other member of Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s family.”
Mr. Trump had said back in February that he planned to remove his predecessor’s access to classified intelligence briefings. It was payback — Mr. Biden had done the same to him after he left office in the days after the Jan 6. attack on the U.S. Capitol.
A variety of figures who’ve tangled with Mr. Trump at one point or another were named in Friday’s memo. Some had already been mentioned by Trump officials as people who would soon have their security clearances revoked, so their inclusion in Friday’s memo did not come as a shock. But taken together, the catalog of names read like an enemies list.
There were New York’s top two law enforcement officials, Letitia James (the New York attorney general) and Alvin L. Bragg (Manhattan’s district attorney), both of whom took on Mr. Trump.

Biden is no longer in office, and no longer needs it. Nor is Kamala. James and Bragg are a disaster, and misused those clearances. Why did Biden’s family need them? Hillary has been out of office for quite some time, and, quite frankly, showed that she played fast and loose with security regulations. Trump should have stripped her clearance in 2017, but, back then, he didn’t want to play that brand of retaliation politics.

And there were the only two Republicans who served on the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger.

Neither are in office: why do they need them? It’s like the clearances are thrown around like candy. He does want to play that hardball politics now, after all the crap Democrats did to Trump. Perhaps Dems should have considered their actions against Trump after he left office.

Global NGOs Shocked And Dismayed Over Greenpeace $660 Million In Damages Ruling

Civil society groups on Thursday condemned a US court order that Greenpeace pay over $660 million in damages to an oil pipeline company as a chilling attack on climate action around the globe.
Environmental defenders rallied behind Greenpeace after the shock ruling by a North Dakota jury fuelled concerns that courtrooms were increasingly being used to smother critics.
“It sends a dangerous message: that fossil fuel giants can weaponize the courts to bankrupt and silence those who challenge the destruction of our planet,” said Anne Jellema, executive director of advocacy group 350.org.
The judgement “is not only an attack on Greenpeace — it is an assault on the entire climate movement, clearly intended to chill the resistance to fossil fuels”, she added in a written statement to AFP.

Or, perhaps climate cultists shouldn’t attack private companies and damage their very expensive equipment.

Ana Caistor Arendar from rights monitor Global Witness said it was “an existential threat to activism, protest and to land and environmental defenders, not just in the US, but everywhere”.

Violence and defamation are not protest. But, hey, if they are saying they cannot operate without doing that, well, too bad.

Brice Bohmer from Transparency International, a global corruption watchdog, said the lawsuit was “unconscionable” and evidence of a much wider problem.
“This kind of activity is becoming increasingly common across climate action, with fossil fuel actors undermining progress wherever possible,” he said.

So fossil fuels companies, where are completely legal, are just supposed to sit back and allow the cult groups to attack them? Oh, brother. And there are even more examples of the cult groups whining. Seriously, breaking the law has consequences, Greenpeace and NGOs. Crying because those laws were enforced is hilarious. Think twice before doing it again. But, they won’t.

Bummer: Trump To Shift Student Loans And Special Education From Education Department

President Donald Trump on Friday began sketching a roadmap for dismantling the Education Department, with other agencies taking over responsibility for federal student loans and programs serving students with disabilities.
The executive order Trump signed Thursday to do away with the department did not offer a timeline or instructions, but his administration appears poised to carve away all but the department’s most vital operations.
The Republican president said during a White House event that student loans will be handled by the Small Business Administration, and “it will be serviced much better than it has in the past.” He also said programs involving students with disabilities would be shifted to the Department of Health and Human Services.
The decisions drew blowback from advocacy groups that fear disruptions will be inevitable. The Small Business Association announced Friday it will cut its staff by 43%, raising questions about its ability to take on the Education Department’s $1.6 trillion loan portfolio.

Student loans were run through other federal agencies prior to the creation of the Department Of Education (ED, not DOE). You had them through the National Defense Education Act of 1958, backed by Treasury. The the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) program established in 1965. The the Student Loan Marketing Association (Sallie Mae), formed in 1973. It wasn’t till 1979, with the creation of the ED, that they started rolling some through the ED. And then with all sorts of shenanigans by Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress they drastically increased it all, causing student loan dept to skyrocket, especially as colleges started drastically increasing the cost of tuition, since Los Federales were totally backing it all, including private loans.
And for special education, things worked a whole hell of a lot better behind when states and school districts were in charge, since they knew their students, rather than far away bureaucrats in D.C.

Trump’s executive order said the student loan portfolio is too big for the Education Department to manage. After the SBA cuts, however, it will be left with fewer than 4,000 employees — about the size of the Education Department before it was cut in half by the Trump administration.

Except, there are around 50,000 non-direct employees helping out the ED employees, which are around 4,500 now.

Education Secretary Linda McMahon said she is preparing to relocate the department’s core operations to other agencies and roll back federal regulations. In an opinion piece published Friday by Fox News Channel, she said abolishing the department “will not happen tomorrow,” but she plans to pave the way.
“We will systematically unwind unnecessary regulations and prepare to reassign the department’s other functions to the states or other agencies,” McMahon wrote.

Which is always the way it was supposed to be. The ED is supposed to be a helper, not the people in charge of everything, who dictate everything. Look at FEMA: they were meant to be coordinators and helpers for states, counties, and cities. They were not meant to be In Charge of every disaster. They were meant to help with things like supplementing state emergency management offices, especially when there are tons of helpers coming from out of state. Well, the ED was meant to be a helper, not dictate things like that schools must allow the gender confused in women’s sports and safe spaces. What schools are allowed to serve for breakfast and lunch.

Bummer: Trump Admin Revoking Legal Status For Half Million Biden Brought In

U.S. to revoke legal status of more than a half-million migrants, urges them to self deport
The Trump administration will be revoking the legal status of hundreds of thousands of Latin American and Haitian migrants welcomed into the U.S. under a Biden-era sponsorship process, urging them to self-deport or face arrest and removal by deportation agents.
The termination of their work permits and deportation protections under an immigration authority known as parole will take effect in late April, 30 days after March 25, according to a notice posted by the federal government.
The move will affect immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela who flew to the U.S. under a Biden administration program, known as CHNV, that was designed to reduce illegal immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border by giving would-be migrants legal migration avenues.
A total of 532,000 migrants entered the U.S. under that policy, which was paused soon after President Trump took office, though it’s unclear how many have been able to secure another status that will allow them to stay in the country legally. (snip)
In a statement, DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin said the migrants allowed into the U.S. under the CHNV process were “loosely vetted,” and argued the program undercut American workers.

Were they vetted at all? How many are gang members, like all those Tren de Aragua “migrants”? What cBS and so many other outlets forget to mention is that CHNV (Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela) is a humanitarian parole, which are only good for two years. Venezuelans had it since October 2022, so, it already ended. The other three countries since January 2023, so, it also ended for them. It’s time to go. How many of these parolees have integrated themselves into American society, showing their worth, trying to be a part of America and be American? How many are just living off the teet of the American people and demanding everything?
But, yeah, you can bet some Biden or Obama appointed judge will ignore the law and DEMAND that Trump not deport the people who’s parole program ended.

Officials sound alarm as invisible threat creeps closer to major U.S. city: ‘An issue of concern for all of us’
Pennsylvania is one of the few states in the U.S. to have a Constitutional amendment stipulating the people’s right to clean water. However, rising sea levels threaten to flood the state’s drinking water with a salt front.
The Delaware River Basin Commission is working hard to manage the river and prevent seawater from approaching its intakes — the structures that collect and channel water. As Carol Collier, former executive director of the DRBC, recently told Inside Climate News, “It should be an issue of concern for all of us.”
Millions of residents living in the areas of Philadelphia and southern New Jersey could see their drinking water contaminated with seawater if sea levels continue to rise, Inside Climate News reported.
The previous plan to stop salt water from entering the drinking water intakes — referred to as the Trenton flow objective — may not be enough to protect the supply if the seawater levels are not kept under control.
Rising sea levels threaten coastal cities and those who live in them. According to The Washington Post, in just the past decade, sea levels have risen faster than anticipated along the southern and southeastern coasts of the U.S — five inches total from 2010 to 2022.

Which is BS, not born out by actual gauges. The Philly station shows 1.03 feet per 100 years, and no acceleration. Damned sure not 5 inches in 12 years. They are making things up, and the WP article fails to provide any substantive science for that figure.

The scientific consensus is that human activity has exacerbated these conditions. Human-caused pollution — which sends far more carbon dioxide, methane, and other gases into the atmosphere than would naturally occur — has supercharged the problem. This has led to more frequent and more powerful weather events around the world that are triggered in some way by heat. One such example: hurricanes and the flooding they can cause.

And there it is: your fault. The seas are always going to rise during a Holocene warm period. Then you combine that with the land subsiding and older infrastructure, and, yes, you have a problem. Which we can solve with technology. Because it is not a thousand years ago during the Medieval Warm Period.

Finally, using renewable energy sources like solar and geothermal energy can help to reduce the heat-trapping pollution from gas-powered energy. All of these actions can add up to reinforce our drinking water systems and our communities.

OK, let’s switch Philly, a mostly Democrat city, to 100% renewables. Ban all fossil fueled vehicles. Shut down the airport. Shut down the sea ports. They’re good with that, right?

Democrat Moonbat Group Warns That Democrat Leaders Are Not Being Moonbat Enough Towards Trump

There are already plenty of elected Democrats going full moonbat, trying to protect illegal aliens, including gang members. Virtually none have said that burning and vandalizing Teslas is bad. How many are saying “yeah, it’s a good idea to get rid of the graft, waste, and abuse at federal agencies,” so, will going more moonbat be the solution?

Liberal group warns Democratic leaders over their strategy against Trump
A major liberal group is warning Democratic leaders that they have deep problems with their base when it comes to their strategy toward President Donald Trump.
The progressive organization MoveOn said in a letter to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries that its members are irate over what they see as inaction from Democratic lawmakers in Congress. The memo, which was first shared with POLITICO, cautioned that grassroots volunteers and donors will stop helping the Democratic Party if it doesn’t do more to obstruct Trump.
“These members, arguably the backbone of the party, have reached a unifying consensus since President Trump’s inauguration,” wrote Rahna Epting, executive director of MoveOn. “Whether they live in a deep-red, purple, or blue district, their message is clear: Now is not the time for politics as usual. Don’t back down, fight back.” (snip)
The memo includes data from a poll of MoveOn’s members that illustrates the pressure that Democratic lawmakers are facing from their liberal base. The survey found that 78 percent of respondents do not believe that Democrats in Congress are doing everything they can to stop Trump, and 49 percent said they were less likely to volunteer for or donate to Democrats after seeing the party’s reaction to Trump. Meanwhile, 89 percent of those polled believe Democrats should take aggressive measures to thwart Trump, and only 4 percent said they should follow congressional norms to take him on.

Should they really be listening to MoveOn and the super hard left moonbat members/readers? Trump can’t be re-elected. Do they want to die on the hill of insanity? If they were smart they’d shift and try to push Trump towards some things they care about, like healthcare. They could work with him on find the waste, graft, and fraud already in the systems, freeing up lots of money for Americans. Maybe working with him to fix Obamacare to bring down medical costs. Do the same with other programs, like SNAP. Instead of barking about deporting illegals, they could work to increase temporary work visas for, say, agriculture, housing, and home health care that are truly monitored, while decreasing the visas for tech which take jobs from Americans. Make themselves look reasonable and that they want to work for the working and middle classes.
But, they won’t.

This is what’s happened to so many Democrats. They may not like Trump (I don’t, I think he, like most politicians, is scum), but, they agree with the policies. They may think he’s moving a bit too fast, and using a large chainsaw instead of a scalpel (I think he could slow down and truly expose the graft, waste, and fraud, really find out those who are not helpful and have their own agenda), but, they agree overall, and see Democrats as supporting the graft, waste, and fraud. Don’t think the elected Democrats will moderate and attempt to make themselves more appealing. They’re stuck in the middle of Crazy and looking reasonable.They could still push their ‘climate change’ stuff but stop making it about Government power, higher taxes/fees, and taking away liberty. Push nuclear. Stop being crazy.

Political leaders across the Washington region are scrambling to find a place for government workers President Donald Trump is trying to fire, part of a mad dash to protect the region’s economy that relies on serving the federal workforce.

And most people see a localized economy that serves a massive bureaucracy as a big problem, and understand that this was never supposed to happen

Officials from the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia have been mobilizing their resources to build a safety net, trying to offer fired federal workers positions elsewhere. Websites sprawling with links on everything from filing for unemployment to postings for local jobs have gone up for all the major counties in the area, and officials are trying to hire as many former federal officials as they can in state and local government.

Which is where most government should reside, rather than in the isolated, insulated District Of Columbia and the surrounding towns.

The loss of jobs for potentially hundreds of thousands of federal workers would be devastating for the area’s future. The unemployment rate is inching up already in Washington, and the administration is exploring selling federal buildings in the city. The District’s budget projected as many as 40,000 fewer federal jobs, descending the city into a “mild recession” in 2026.

For most of America that sounds like a good thing

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser earlier this month announced the city would expedite the hiring process for federal workers looking to move to city government jobs. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore also unveiled an omnibus recruitment package, including virtual job fairs to siphon federal workers to the state’s growing education, biotechnology and cybersecurity sectors.

How many jobs does the city government really need? Can they afford to pay those big salaries? Does the state really need them?

And Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin — a Republican and a backer of Trump who has thrown support behind DOGE — launched a “Virginia Has Jobs” campaign to promote the state, with his office noting many Virginians are “concerned about the impact of the federal workforce realignment on their careers.”

Virginia probably needs a bunch of people to work in the parks and road projects.

Departments and agencies are due to implement a widespread reduction in workforce in early April. Thousands of federal workers stand to join the already fired probationary employees and the other tens of thousands that accepted buyouts. But local leaders say they’re already preparing for the fallout.

The Elites didn’t care when it was workers who refused to take the worthless COVID vaccine.

EPA Internal Watchdog Peeks Under The Hood Of $7 Billion Biden Solar Program
The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) is opening an audit into a $7 billion Biden-era solar deployment program, the OIG said in a Wednesday letter.
The OIG is auditing the Solar For All program, which is part of the $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) created by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The Biden EPA used the program to route massive checks to sixty recipients — primarily state governments —around the country so that awardees could finance solar panel deployment in low-income areas. The Trump EPA is now following up on the program’s funding.
“Our objective is to describe the status of funds, top recipients, and potential risks and impacts of the EPA’s Solar for All program within the Office of the Administrator’s Office of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund,” the letter reads. “We plan to conduct work at headquarters and regions, if necessary.”

That looks like political speak for “you best have covered your asses, because we’re about to be proctologists.”

Some of the states that received massive checks from the Solar for All program happen to be among the least-sunny states in the U.S.
For instance, the Executive Office of the State of New Hampshire received approximately $43.5 million from the program, and the Vermont Department of Public Service reaped nearly $62.5 million while the Maine Governor’s Energy Office raked in $62.1 from the Solar for All program. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s National Solar Radiation Database Physical Solar Model indicates that New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine are among the least-sunny states in the U.S.

What have they done with the money? There’s been time to get projects off the ground. Or, was it just money to pass around to Democrat donors?
