EPA Puts “Holy Grail” of Climate Change in Crosshairs by Reconsidering Endangerment Finding and Other Regulations
The Situation: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) announced an agenda to revisit numerous regulations addressing the emission of greenhouse gases (“GHGs”).
The Result: The Endangerment Finding and the social cost of carbon (“SCC”) are under active consideration and revisions of these could potentially impact many, if not all, climate change regulations on their own. In addition, specific rules addressing GHG emissions from motor vehicles, power plants, refrigeration units, and oil and gas wells are under consideration along with GHG reporting requirements.
Looking Ahead: EPA rulemaking should be monitored to determine the current status of GHG regulation.
On March 12, 2025, the EPA announced numerous actions aimed at reconsidering regulations, with a special focus on climate change regulations. While EPA targeted some climate change rules individually, the announced reconsideration of the Endangerment Finding and the SCC may compromise the legal underpinnings of all GHG regulation.

EPA’s Administrator Lee Zeldin took particular aim at the 2009 Endangerment Finding, saying, “I’ve been told the Endangerment Finding is considered the Holy Grail of the climate change religion.” The Endangerment Finding stems from the Supreme Court’s holding in Massachusetts v. EPA. The Court concluded that GHGs fall under the Clean Air Act’s definition of “air pollutant,” and that EPA “offered no reasoned explanation for its refusal to decide whether [GHGs] cause or contribute to climate change.” The Court noted that the Clean Air Act requires regulation of air pollutants that in EPA’s “judgment cause, or contribute to, air pollution which may reasonably be anticipated to endanger public health or welfare.” In 2009, EPA found that GHG emissions do endanger public health and welfare. This finding, called the Endangerment Finding, allows EPA to regulate GHGs.

They just magically found this without input from the duly elected Legislative Branch. Just created it out of thin air. Here’s hoping Zeldin can shitcan these two things, though, you know the climate cult will file lawsuit after lawsuit, and find like minded judges, so, it’s going to have to end up at the Supreme Court. But, really, if one admin can get this through, why can’t another kill it?

According to the movement’s website, March 29 is planned as a “global day of action.”
“Elon Musk is destroying our democracy, and he’s using the fortune he built at Tesla to do it. We are taking action at Tesla to stop Musk’s illegal coup,” the site says. “Tesla Takedown is a peaceful protest movement. We oppose violence, vandalism and destruction of property.”
As part of the movement, the website calls for people to sell their Tesla vehicles as well as dump their stock and join picket lines in front of more than 500 Tesla locations around the world.

So, let me get this straight: they want to protest a guy who’s rooting out fraud, waste, and abuse in government. FWB that takes money away from the people it is appropriated to help. He’s getting rid of employees that do not help the system. Reducing costs which can go to helping the people agencies are supposed to help. They’re protesting for massive government which is dictatorial in its bureaucratic setup.
And they can say they oppose violence, vandalism, and destruction of property, but, that’s what these people have been doing. How does it help the people working at Tesla dealerships? Seems like the wackos want to get them all fired. Musk only owns about 12% of Tesla, so, it won’t hurt him.

NC Health and Human Services Department to cut 80 jobs, lose $100 million in federal funding
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is planning to cut 80 jobs and will lose more than $100 million in funding.
The reductions are due to the federal government’s “abrupt and immediate termination of several federal grants,” a department spokesperson said in a statement. (snip)
The $100 million North Carolina is losing in funding directly contributes to the “health, safety and wellbeing of the people we serve,” the NCDHHS spokesperson wrote.
Specifically, the federal grant funding impacts several areas of work, including immunization efforts, funding for the new NC Immunization Registry, infectious disease monitoring and response, behavioral health, substance use disorder services and more. Some of the impacted funding supports work that is done by local health departments, universities, hospitals and local departments of social services.
The NCDHHS is also putting impacted vendors on notice to pause work supported by the funding.

Maybe Democrats will finally figure out that it is not the best thing to rely on Los Federales funding so much? That the entire system of US government was meant for the feds to deal with specific issues authorized by the Constitution, and the states and cities deal with everything else? That it is not that wise to be send so much tax money to the feds, where a new admin can do something different? And, really, all that federal money means states can play the waste, fraud, and idiotic spending game. And, it’s a bad idea to rely so damned much on private companies to do the work.

Trump administration says it will pull back billions in COVID funding from local health departments
Federal health officials said Tuesday they are pulling back $11.4 billion in COVID-19-related funds for state and local public health departments and other health organizations throughout the nation.
“The COVID-19 pandemic is over, and HHS will no longer waste billions of taxpayer dollars responding to a non-existent pandemic that Americans moved on from years ago,” the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement.
The statement said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expects to recover the money beginning 30 days after termination notices, which began being sent out on Monday.

Yeah, they are doing this about 6 months early, but, come on, the pandemic is over, time to stop pissing away this money which just puts lots of money in people’s pockets for nothing.

In a related move, more than two dozen COVID-related research grants funded by the National Institutes of Health have been canceled. Earlier this month, the Trump administration shut down ordering from covidtest.gov, the site where Americans could have COVID-19 tests delivered to their mailboxes for no charge.

That’ll make the loons still wearing masks in their cars very upset.

At this point, it’s unclear exactly how health departments will be affected by the pullback of funds. But some were starting to look at what it might mean for them. In Washington state, for example, health officials were notified that more than $125 million in COVID-related funding has been immediately terminated. They are “assessing the impact” of the actions, they said.
In Los Angeles County, health officials said they could lose more than $80 million in core funding for vaccinations and other services. “Much of this funding supports disease surveillance, public health lab services, outbreak investigations, infection control activities at healthcare facilities and data transparency,” a department official wrote in an email.

Let them spend their own money on their Wuhan flu crazy. COVID is over. It’s essentially the flu at this point. Maybe states shouldn’t rely so much on federal money.

#BREAKING: Olivia Marie Antoine, a 24 year old self-described "very very liberal" woman, has been charged with injury/tampering a Tesla in North Carolina. According to the police officials, Antoine allegedly drew the word "NAZI" and a swastika on the car in broad daylight.

24-year-old woman arrested for vandalizing Tesla in Clayton with swastika, “Nazi”
Olivia Marie Antoine, a 24-year-old resident of Zebulon in Wake County, has been charged by in Johnston County with vandalizing a Tesla in Clayton earlier this month by drawing a swastika and the word “Nazi” on the vehicle.
According to the incident report, the vandalism occurred was while the 2021 Tesla Model 3 was parked at the shopping center at the intersection of Highway 42 and Neuse River Parkway in Clayton on March 13.
The Clayton woman to whom the vehicle belonged returned to find that a swastika and the word “Nazi” had been painted on her Tesla in a “white-milky substance.”
The owner reported the incident to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, who were able to identify Antoine as the culprit using facial recognition software. (The entire incident had been captured on the Tesla’s camera system.)
Antoine, a former Clayton resident herself, has been charged with one count of “Injuring or tampering with vehicle” (NC GS § 14?160.4), a Class 2 misdemeanor, which carries a maximum sentence of 30 days “community punishment” and/or a $1,000 fine for a first time offender.

Hopefully she will get the maximum sentence, because, this is NC, and Clayton/Johnson County aren’t exactly liberal areas. Also, she’ll hopefully be forced to make restitution. Insurance companies do love coming after wackos like this.

SEC votes to stop defending climate disclosure rule
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) voted to stop defending a rule that required some companies to disclose their planet-warming emissions and how climate change would impact their business.
The Republican-majority commission’s Thursday decision is not a surprise, as it had previously said it would pause its defense of the rule.
However, the formal vote marks yet another step toward the likely death of a rule that sent shockwaves through Wall Street.
The SEC’s acting chair, Mark Uyeda, said in a statement that the rule was “costly and unnecessarily intrusive.”

There was zero reason for the rule in Reality Land, but, the cult always wants to force themselves into everything. Force themselves on everyone. Force everyone to comply.

However, climate activists said that the decision provides less transparency for the public.
“Letting companies hide climate risks doesn’t make those risks any less real — it just makes it harder for investors to manage them and protect their long-term savings,” said Ben Cushing, director of the Sierra Club’s Sustainable Finance campaign, in a statement.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, how many of these people Demanding this rule actually have investments in these companies? Have a financial stake? I’d hazard to guess very few of them.

Not one project has begun construction elsewhere or here, despite some $650 million in funding for Minnesota alone.

Jon Stewart Speechless At Biden-Era Red Tape: “This Is How Liberal Government Works Now”
Jon Stewart welcomed NYT columnist Ezra Klein on his “Weekly Show” podcast to stare into the abyss of government regulations that prevented President Biden’s “Build Back Better” infrastructure bill from building much of anything at all. Klein is a co-author of the new book, “Abundance,” which pitches the idea of a more effective liberalism by bringing attention to the red tape built into Democratic politics.
In one segment that’s gotten a lot of attention (above), Klein explains the 14-step process states have to go through to even start building the rural broadband networks that were promised $42 billion in funding by the Biden administration (3 out of 56 states and territories are almost ready to start about four years later).
“Having submitted their five-year plans and letters of intent, step eight is states must submit an ‘initial proposal’ to the NTIA [National Telecommunications and Information Administration],” Klein explained.
“Is that a result of their $5 million planning fund?” Stewart asked, noticeably losing hope.
“I assume, but then what was the five-year plan?” said Klein. “Like, if the five-year action plan isn’t the initial proposal, then what’s the five-year action plan?”

And it doesn’t get any better after that. Because then there needs to be another approval. Then there is the publishing of maps by states, which can be challenged. But, Los Federales were supposed to have their own maps. And these are then reviewed. But, this wasn’t part of the proposals to start with. And then there is sub-contracting plans submitted. Then a final proposal. And then finally a review and approval by the NTIA. Which ended with 3 of 56 almost ready to start. Doing it this way would get people in the private sector reamed, possibly demoted, if not fired, if they ran their action plans this way.

“Well, you know, organized interest groups, environmental groups,” Klein said. “Literally anybody. I want to say something because it’s very important. This is the Biden administration’s process for its own bill. They wanted this to happen. This is how liberal government works now.”
“This is something they instituted for their bill?”
“For their bill. This is a bill passed by Democrats with a regulatory structure written by a Democratic administration,” he said. “Step 11, the NTIA must review and improve the challenge results and the final map.”‘

It was a program designed to not happen.

“I’m speechless,” Jon Stewart said. “Honestly, it’s far worse than I could have imagined.”

Me too. I thought they were just incompetent and didn’t care, but, they actively made it almost impossible. So, um, uh, what’s happening with all that money? Democrats can say “Oh, $42 billion is not that much in terms of the budget”, but, do you think $42 billion is a pittance to piss away? If you gave me $5000 to build a deck and 3 years on you saw no deck, would you be wondering and a bit upset?
As one of the comments at the Real Clear Politics articles says “Klein probably knows that the bureaucratic process is the reason they want big spending. The goal isn’t to get internet to people…The goal is to keep political cadres employed for years and shovel money to friendly consultants. There’s always been some beak-wetting in government work, but we’ve reached the point where it costs $Billions to do nothing at all. And it didn’t get that way by accident.”
DOGE should audit the program, see where the money went. And Trump should turn around, scuttle the requirements, and get the program done.

2 California bills seek to charge oil, gas companies for climate change
Insurance rates are rising quickly in California because of fires and floods linked to climate change and now, two new bills in Sacramento seek to make oil and gas companies pay.
The Affordable Insurance and Climate Recovery Act would create legal pathways for homeowners, insurance companies and the state insurance plan to sue and recover losses from oil and gas companies. (snip)
The Western States Petroleum Association called the bills a way for politicians to capitalize on tragedy. The California Independent Petroleum Association said the real culprits for the fires are arsonists, environmental lawsuits that prevent forest management, and cuts to firefighting budgets.

The fossil fuels companies wouldn’t stay in business if people weren’t purchasing their products.

Romero also supports the Polluters Pay Superfund bill, which would charge fossil fuel companies according to their role in climate change and invest in climate-resilient communities.
“It requires the California Environmental Protection Agency to do a report about the actual costs, both looking backwards and forwards, that climate change has caused to California in terms of our infrastructure, disaster response and things like that,” Romero outlined.

Might this be the straw that broke the camels back, where the fossil fuels companies simply say “hang it all, we are not suing, even though we have a good chance of winning in federal court, we’re just done with the People’s Republik Of California, and are no longer going to operate in the state”? How will the PRC operate all the huge number of airports? And seaports? Those ships and planes and helicopters need fuel. How will the Elites get to their cushy vacation spots? Will they come to the right conclusion as to why the border is rather quiet now?

California-Mexico border, once overwhelmed, now nearly empty
When the humanitarian aid workers decided to dismantle their elaborate tented setup — erected right up against the border wall — they hadn’t seen migrants for a month.
A year earlier, when historic numbers of migrants were arriving at the border, the American Friends Service Committee, a national Quaker-founded human rights organization, came to their aid. Eventually the group received enough donations to erect three canopies, where it stored food, clothing and medical supplies.
But migrant crossings have slowed to a near halt, bringing a striking change to the landscape along the southernmost stretch of California.
Shelters that once received migrants have closed, makeshift camps where migrants waited for processing are barren, and nonprofits have begun shifting their services to established immigrants in the U.S. who are facing deportation, or migrants stuck in southern Mexico.
Meanwhile, the Border Patrol, with the assistance of 750 U.S. military troops, has reinforced six miles of the border wall with concertina wire.

So, wait, all those things worked? I wonder who shut the border down and who left it open?

Border Patrol agents in the San Diego sector are now making about 30 to 40 arrests per day, according to the agency. That’s down from more than 1,200 per day during the height of migrant arrivals to the region in April.

So, 30 times less in just this sector, which already had a border wall up.

In May 2023, the Biden administration ended a pandemic-era policy under which migrants were denied the right to seek asylum and were rapidly returned to Mexico. In the leadup to the policy change, migrants descended on the border by the thousands.

Whoa. The LA Times uses the most Biden friendly way of saying that he opened the floodgates. But, he did it for humanitarian reasons, you know! He didn’t care about US citizens, but, he loves him some poor migrants (who spend thousands to tens of thousands to come to America from all over the world, including Islamic terrorists.

Stalnaker said federal prosecutors in San Diego had also accepted more than 1,000 border-related criminal cases this fiscal year. And following Trump’s tariff threats, Mexico vowed to send 10,000 National Guard troops to its northern border. Those troops now meet with U.S. agents a few times a week and conduct synchronous patrols on their respective sides of the border, Stalnaker said.

Oh, look, they finally mention Trump, the president who shut it down.

Farther east, Jacumba Hot Springs was once the site of additional open-air camps, where hundreds of migrants slept on plastic tarps (or in tents, if they were lucky) and huddled around campfires fueled by brush to stay warm.
Sam Schultz, a retired international relief worker who has lived near Jacumba for nine years, once made daily deliveries of water, hot meals and blankets to migrants there. When the camps popped up a few miles from his home, he felt compelled to help.

All these people and their groups are very upset that they are no longer getting tons of taxpayer money to help all the fake asylum seekers destroying America’s small towns. How much was used for payroll?

Immigrant Defenders Law Center, headquartered in Los Angeles, served migrants who were bused there from the border by the Texas governor; the group also provided legal help to those waiting in Tijuana for appointments with Customs and Border Protection. After his inauguration, President Trump quickly canceled existing appointments and ended use of a phone application used by the Biden administration to schedule them.

Finally, another mention of the guy who significantly reduced illegal immigration. Anyhow, there sure are lots of groups meant to help the fake asylum seekers/illegals, all getting government money, eh? Anyhow, it’s amazing what Trump was able to do without any sort of absurd legislation from Congress, right? It’s like the laws were already there.

When President Donald Trump signed an order calling for the deportation of foreign students who participated in “pro-jihadist” protests of the war in Gaza, some supporters of the crackdown were already working to identify targets for expulsion.
Here are some key takeaways about the efforts by pro-Israel private groups to expose protesters using facial recognition and other means, and to report them to federal authorities.
Private groups experiment with facial recognition to identify protesters
A right-wing Jewish group said it used facial-recognition software to identify campus protesters and included them on a list submitted to administration officials earlier this year, seeking deportation.
A New York computer engineer who has built a facial-recognition tool designed to identify masked protesters said he has talked with other pro-Israel groups about licensing the software for their own efforts.
The use of facial-recognition technology by private groups enters territory previously reserved largely for law enforcement, said attorney Sejal Zota, who represents a group of California activists in a lawsuit against facial-recognition company ClearviewAI.

In other words, they only want The State to be able to try and pick out people. Of course, I remember The State asking private citizens to snitch on people caught on camera from J6. People who mostly just walked around the Capitol Building peacefully, who weren’t wishing death on people.

It’s unclear whether names from outside groups have reached top government officials, who have said that more arrests of international students are coming. But concern about the pursuit of activists has risen since the March 8 arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate student of Palestinian descent who helped lead demonstrations against Israel’s conduct of the war.
“Now they’re using tools of the state to actually go after people,” said a Columbia graduate student from South Asia who has been active in protests and spoke on condition of anonymity because of concerns about losing her visa.

Some supporters of deportation say they’re focused on students whose activities go beyond protest, pointing to those who incite violence or occupy campus buildings illegally.
“If you’re here, right, on a student visa causing civil unrest … assaulting people on the streets, chanting for people’s death, why the heck did you come to this country?” said Eliyahu Hawila, the software engineer whose company built the tool designed to identify masked protesters.

Well, yeah. But, Democrats, and these foreigners, want to have their cake and eat it too. Seriously, what’s wrong with identifying the rioters? The White House will remove from its property a magnolia tree planted nearly 200 years ago with seeds said to have been brought from former President Jackson’s home in Tennessee.

President Trump announced Sunday that, after consulting with the Executive Residence Staff and the National Park Service, the administration has decided to replace the tree, saying it poses a safety hazard.
“The bad news is that everything must come to an end, and this tree is in terrible condition, a very dangerous safety hazard, at the White House Entrance, no less, and must now be removed,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, noting that the “good news” is that his administration is “making tremendous enhancements to the White House.”

They been trying to save the tree for decades, but, it is toast. Trees do die. This is really much ado about nothing. Remember the complete freakout over Melania wanted to utterly destroy the rose garden, which was created in 1913? But, it ended up being them tearing it all up and making it more modern and replanting everything? Much like Jackie Kennedy did in the early 60s.
