Is it possible to search by SSN?
So far I only found that theSocial Security Death index allows to search by SSN but that's only for deceased people.
There are sites that claim you can search living people by SSN but is this true?
Can you find more information on someone (who's currently alive) if you have only his social security number?
The reason why ask is...well it's really a complicated situation it would take me another topic to explain
I've also taken a look at some private investigator services that promise to find a particular person by SSN but they're WAY too expensive ($2000+). There must be a way to do this online and I thought that you guys know best so that's why I decided to ask for your advice.
Best wishes,

Unless you suspect someone of using your SSN, why on earth would you want to know?

Not according to modern privacy laws. But there are online sites offering searches for a fee. I just tested one with my SSN but a different last name, and it claimed to find me, then offered to show the information for a fee. I'm skeptical.

Worst of all, some of these sites...try entering ANY random number there and they will tell you 'result found!'. Seems some of them operate on that basis, to take your money no matter what you research for
